SHM’s “reunion” with their Ultra show and everything after flopped on an epic proportion. Coachella should stick to booking the more relevant EDM acts, which they generally do these days.
I feel very lucky to have seen Frank a few times early in his career when he wasn't so averse to live shows.
That said, I'm sure I'm absolutely in the minority, but I'm not too heartbroken about him dropping off. He's a very talented artist and obviously a huge get, but I'm not sure it would have translated well as a main stage headliner.

FYF live set seems great on YouTube, but I wasn’t there

Was he not fun for you to see live?
I’ve seen him at Roo and Panorama. He killed Pano. I loved the Roo set as well.
Why waste the money for them to headline. They got to close Main in 2012, thats as good as itll get for them. The Ultra performance was bullshit anyway.
I think Billie and Bunny are just unlikely due to their tours, unless they pull an Ariana and move their LA dates back for after Coachella. My personal preference is Adele here. But I'd rather them get someone who wasn't on the 2019 line up. I know circumstances of covid messed with the headliner pool pecking order, but I'd just rather it not be someone I saw at the most recent Coachella.
So you want Timberlake and Kanye? And they didnt move Ariana’s La dates for Coachella. They just moved the mid west ones which overlapped. She played in L.A as normally scheduled in early May. If they had to book Billie or Bad Bunny there is nothing to shuffle cause there is zero overlap and theyre way sold out.
Extremely bummed about this because I bought my ticket specifically for the exclusivity of Frank but if they get Kendrick, The Cure, White Stripes reunion, Silk Sonic or have someone like FKA Twigs closing against a nondesired headliner then that I would be ok with.
I was excited for Frank but Sunday night didn’t feel like the right vibe to me.
This was part of my thinking. People generally want to go out on a sing-along/celebratory note, and I kinda think Frank's set would have been too soft/sleepy at points for a huge crowd of people who are probably a bit tapped and aren't all well versed in his music. Imagine waiting that long to see Frank just to wind up in an area of folks who are talking through half the songs or where the crowd feels flat.
Might not have gone down that way -- just felt like the hype around this was going to hit a level that was very hard to achieve, especially closing things out.
And to be fair, I saw him pre-Channel Orange and just after the release. Lolla at the Grove was the biggest setting, others were small clubs, so maybe that's why I am struggling with it.

There's major cognitive dissonance in saying "lol of course frank dropped" and also thinking Rihanna will be the replacement after years of fake-outs, jukes, and lots of express interest in anything other than music. She's firmly in the "believe it when you see it" realm.
Bad Bunny makes a lot of sense - one Staples Center show might not be disqualifying. Taylor Swift makes some sense (they better book The National and/or Big Red Machine if they're going to book her). MCR makes a degree of sense if they have the right to bring them back as a headliner as part of that buy-out, though two rock headliners seems odd. White Stripes I would think are a no brainer, except again - two rock headliners. Fleetwood Mac at least blends into the pop realm as well. Kendrick makes sense, but similar deal - two rap headliners, and Kendrick just played.
I dunno. Frank was a good fit; I wanted to see him, even if I wasn't dying to. I'll be real curious to see who they have instead.

Rihanna did more shows in 2016 than Frank has done in his whole career, so not really following the logic there. Basically any legacy pop star is an unlikely booking here, but at least she actually tours once in a while.
She’s certainly more plausible than the White Stripes.

After getting pump faked about Sade in 2020 I refuse to get my hopes up. I also think majority of the attendees will hate the replacement while I will literally scream for joy

To be fair, the people expecting Frank will hate anything that isn't Frank.
