My overly optimistic attempt of a mock for next year!
Line up placement is all over the place. But would definitely go.
Anything particular that jumps out at you? I counted probably 10-15 acts that could easily slide up or down one line, but anything that you think is misstated by more than one line?

you could probably swap Phoebe and Jungle, they're both way off

I think quite a few of the second line artists could be subs already. Megan, Rosalia, Porter, Mars Volta reunion would be big. Clairo, Girl in Red, Caribou too high. Phoebe, Duck Sauce, Black Midi, Princess Nokia too low.

Yeah Phoebe was one of the artists that I thought should be up a line. Jungle got placed on the second line because I thought they would be at the front of the third line at a minimum since they were on the third line in 2018. They just happen to fit on the second when I couldn’t make some of the other names vying for that spot work.

I appreciate the feedback! Totally fair comment related a lot of the number 3s on their day. They easily could sub as well. I picked St. Vincent to sub because I just thought she went well into Fleetwood, but agree she’s way smaller than Rosalia, Porter, or Megan.
Girl in Red is an artist I think will be much bigger by the end of the summer, which is why I placed her so high. I had a similar mindset with Clairo as I see her trajectory increasing over the next year.
Duck Sauce and Caribou are literally where they were on the 2020 poster, so I don’t see that issue there.
You’re probably right about Black Midi and Princess Nokia being too low.

Caribou was riding on the hype for his new record in 2020. Unfortunately, I don’t believe he’ll have that in 2021 with everything being released this year and his record being over a year old and also not that critically received. I think more focus would be paid on reunions and new artists next year but that’s just my thinking.

Caribou is still a GV favorite though. I think he'll move down a couple spots but still be on the third line. The ones that jumped out to me were Mabel, Danny Ocean, Rosé, The Avalanches, Dayglow, grandson and RAYE being too high and L'Impératrice, Rapsody, slowthai, Orville Peck, Black Pumas and Phoebe Bridgers too low.
If we're putting returning 2020 artists on here too, I'd probably add Rex Orange County, DaBaby, BIGBANG, Lane 8, Black Coffee, 100 gecs, beabadoobee, Emo Nite, FKA twigs, Louis the Child, Lil Nas X, SLANDER, Ed Maverick, Nathy Peluso and maybe Lana Del Rey.
And damn, now I want to re-do my mock with half my lineup, half 2020 lol. It honestly wouldn't take that long.

Do it! I think it’ll end up being something like that too.

I was also thinking about doing my own mock, but I was also thinking about how while I liked the mocks that have already been made a lot, they felt a bit too different (maybe for good reason!) than the 2020 lineup. So I went through and counted the acts on the 2020 lineup that haven’t released a new album since before January 2020, haven't announced a new upcoming album, and toured the United States in late 2019/early 2020. A few acts have their own caveats:
(* indicates a short US tour) Rex Orange County Lewis Capaldi Kim Petras Friendly Fires* Cashmere Cat (cancelled his 2019 tour) Amyl and the Sniffers Flume Jai Wolf DJ Koze* Freddie Gibbs & Madlib* MIKA* Snail Mail Weyes Blood Seun Kuti* Ezra Collective Beach Goons The Murder Capital* The Comet Is Coming Frank Ocean (lmao) Marina Daniel Caesar Ari Lennox Leningrad Big Wild Noname SebastiAn* Black Pumas (lol)
Released a new single: Cordae Hot Chip Cuco Koffee Matoma Nilüfer Yanya Chris Liebing Mannequin Pussy Fatboy Slim Lauren Daigle Bishop Briggs Emotional Oranges Doja Cat (but “Say So” feels like a notable single to warrant its own paranthetical) Olivia O’Brien
Announced for festivals in 2021 (that I’ve noticed): Madeon GRiZ Testpilot Alex G Dave (Parklife “UK festival exclusive” 2021)
It ended up being a few more than I thought, but still, under these rules, the majority of acts booked for 2020 could still hypothetically be booked for next year.
Kali Uchis is definitely in the middle of the second line by now. Yachty too high, Trippie Redd too high.. Overall I'd love this line up though! St. Vincent into Fleetwood would be absolutely amazing. Stylistically speaking, my dream is Dua Lipa into Rihanna, but I'm definitely a bigger Adele fan so works for me.

So Fontaines D.C. dropped some tour dates a few days ago and they make me think Coachella's 2022 dates might actually be April 15-17 & April 22-24 instead of a week earlier. Their European tour ends on April 11th and I initially thought they'd be out UNLESS Coachella started on the 15th instead of the 8th. Then I looked at Coachella's historical dates and noticed a trend. Since going to two weekends, Coachella's earliest starting day was going to be 2021 on April 9th, before that was two occurrences on April 10th in 2015 & 2020. The first day is also usually a day earlier than the previous year until it hit the 10th in 2015, then it jumps back up the next year.
2012 - April 13th (Leap Year) 2013 - April 12th 2014 - April 11th 2015 - April 10th 2016 - April 15th (Leap Year) 2017 - April 14th 2018 - April 13th 2019 - April 12th 2020 - April 10th (Leap Year) 2021 - April 9th
So while Coachella COULD start on the 8th, I think the trend might suggest a start date of the 15th instead.

Is that why iii Points has til April 12 to release their blurred names?

I believe those are the weekends that it’s fallen on the past 5 years because I went on my bday in 17-19 and my bday is the 21st
Since Easter is the 17th next year, I really hope that weekend 2 is the following weekend so that I can still go. There’s no way I could take off one of the busiest weeks of the year.

I really hope it’s W2 as well. The market is closed on Good Friday so we automatically get that day off work, and it doesn’t force me to take an extra vacation day!

I still think its the dumbest thing to keep rotating Easter weekend any time between the end of March and end of April. Why has it not just been static as being the last weekend of March or first weekend of April. Like I get it has to go with the lunar cycle but come the fuck on.
Desert Trip 2 to happen on the October dates this year instead of Coachella as a whole. “Sources” have said it’s “cancelled” but we still have heard anything official yet.. 6-10 legendary bands are available in October Instead of booking 150+ acts. It was a seating chart event last time so it would help with distancing folk. And they Can easily price gauge and make a boat load of money now, and Still be prepared for a full Coachella in April.

Unlikely but possible. Just a thought
Is there any weight to this or did you just have a manic fever dream?
