Yeah, I dont know why somebody would think that after a few tv performances that Olivia Rodrigo can take on 50,000 people just cause. Billie did 2 tours and a summer of festivals before the debut album was even released pre Coachella. Then Weekend 1 they had technical issues and the performance wasnt that great. So you can try to make sure everything is planned to perfection but its not a guarantee it all goes according to plan. Like Ive said, if this was a normal year for 2021, Olivia wouldve been in the middle of the poster and likely gotten a more prominent spot on the schedule due to Drivers License but thats it. Not like demands to be a subheadliner.
it literally says they're scheduling her for 3,000 - 5,000 people venues
You mean Coachella is a 3,000 - 5,000 capacity venue? Well that explains the price hike.
the argument is that she can’t handle big crowds for whatever reason.
This is Billie's crowd at iHeartRadio in 2019 performing 7 songs on the same stage Olivia will be on. The Daytime Stage is more akin to what a normal festival would be like, unlike the main festival inside which is more like an awards show. If she can handle a crowd like this, she'll be fine doing a longer set at Coachella.

They changed the location of the daytime stage for this year. Its not at the fairgrounds as it previously was and looks to just be a small parking lot next to a multimedia entertainment center. So capacity is kind of unknown. I mean its not sold out of tickets which is surprising given that the event in the arena costs an arm and a leg this year.
Industry plant is a bullshit concept trotted out by old men to shit on women in music. She hasn’t played a show yet because of Covid. Everyone works with other songwriters and she’s not trying to cover up that fact.
The yodeling boy who was “discovered” in a Walmart was a plant. That shit was fake as hell. There’s nothing fake here.
Do love the guy who pretends to attend music festivals griping about “authenticity” tho
Comparing the yodeling boy to an industry plant is by far one of the worst takes I’ve seen on this board lol. Let’s compare someone fabricating a situation in a Walmart to some meticulously calculated and manicured zeitgeist bullshit. Jesus Christ inforoo

I didn’t realize this before but one of my best friends works with Dan Nigro. This idea that they’re a bunch of Illuminati string pullers is extra funny to me now.

String Pullers? Nah, the dude wrote a bunch of solid Paramore (Riot-era) b-sides and had a Disney star track vocals to them. Good for him, make that money.

Even if he wrote them all himself and she’s just a stooge there to perform them, so what? The world would be better and more “authentic” place if he had recorded Drivers License himself?
I’d say it depends on the artist and style of music. Nobody got mad at Elton John for having a writer all of his career, and rightfully so. But if I found out Danny Brown or MF DOOM had a ghostwriter for their whole career it would certainly tarnish their catalogue.
Did nobody watch the swedish songwriting episode on the This is Pop series which is on Netflix right now? Or is it like taboo to acknowledge that a lot of pop songs everyone loves from the past 25 years have been written by 3 guys from Stokholm.

I can literally never understand the point you’re trying to make
Love me some Charli XCX My opinion on it is, I don't mind "ghost writers" but I think these writers deserve to get more public credit than they do. I won't like an artist any less if they have ghost writers but giving the writers a shoutout would be nice. Like Snoop bigging up Jay-Z for writing Still D.R.E. for Dre and Snoop. Or Kanye giving big shout outs to the person who wrote majority of Violent Crimes. It's a beautiful song no matter what. Now I know who to give credit to for writing, while still giving credit to the person who performed it.

Kanye had someone writing or co-writing throughout a lot of his early work. Rhymefest and Consequence being the biggest ones I can think of. I was young at the time and don’t remember how clear he made it then. Loved it all though.
Said by an artist who has made more off publishing for songs she's written for other than she has for herself. Of course she doesn't care if people write their own songs, that's what keeps makes her money.

That a 40 year old swedish dude wrote Hit Me Baby One More Time and everyone just thinks that it came from Britney’s mind and nobody gives a shit.
