The Avalanches played the set I've been waiting over 20 years to see them play. The live show a few years ago was OK but to see them do a proper DJ set mixing Beach Boys, Queen, samples from their albums and remixes of their tracks was what I've wanted since listening to their early radio mixes.
Stromae was everything I hoped he would be (though we could've done without the Oscar-esque thank-yous of his publicist, stylist, manager, etc. toward the end).
L'Imperatrice was a funky fun time.
Black Midi bringing out dancers from their amazing John L video blew me away.
Turnstile was great, so much energy in the crowd too.
Altin Gun was fantastic, really like them a lot.
And to answer the Spiritualized question, there was not a huge crowd but it was definitely bigger than several other Sonora sets I saw. Hard to guess a number with people up front, on the couches on the sides and back at the bar, but maybe 400 people? The setlist was much more festival-friendly, focusing on the harder-driving songs, than the two-hour show I saw them play in Solana Beach the night before where they really stretched out on some of the quieter, more dynamic songs on his last couple albums. Loved the guy in the orange shirt who was all-in on having a musically spiritual experience near the back of the crowd on the floor.
I can't tell for sure how crowded the fest was compared to the past. I'm sure it depends in part on what sets you see, when you eat/drink, etc., but it felt really crowded Friday afternoon but then not so bad later. Saturday felt much lighter overall but Sunday it felt far more crowded everywhere I went.
Agree with Fart that the water situation was the worst in years.
If you leave by 10-10:30 am you beat a lot of traffic.
Most people are saying leave by 9ish or it gets late
Idk whats best
I’ll be at the fields until The Weeknd ends, then shuttle back and sleep asap
I’ll have most things packed basically to leave quickly on Mon. Maybe a quick shower
Did The Weeknd go past 12? Usually don’t do that on a Sun
Finished just after 12:30. There hasnt been a headliner that went past the designated curfew in a long ass while. It took am almost 90 mins to set the stage up which is a crime towards the audience. And Doja essentially having a headliner level production didnt help. Im curious as to how the hell they were gonna pull off that stage set up AFTER Harry Styles if things didnt go sideways with Kanye. SHM didnt even had a lot of badass visuals with all that they even rigged up either. Cant imagine what theyre gonna give the audience that does see them on the tour if its that for 90 mins.
Re: low energy in crowds. Well what did you expect. The weather was mostly in the sweet spot all weekend except for the few hours yesterday afternoon and you could see people were a bit slow cause of the heat and lack of access to water. Easily 90% of the people in attendance didnt even go to a festival til this one after covid hit. So who would really be used to the conditions. Almost everything last year was in Sept and Oct for fests so there was some really nice weather to be had. Cant throw everyone into the desert and expect them to react like that had 3 years ago after the layoff.
Haven't had fomo quite like the Elfman show. That's one special fucking set.
Seemed like a lot of effort with the video backdrop just for 2-off gig.
Seemed like he got the performing bug a little bit after this weekend. Probably not a tour, but his Nightmare before xmas show did New York and London in 2014 and 2017.

That's my one hope. If he can bring that show to London then I'd be delighted.
Arcade Fire: My first set and best set of the weekend by far. Very Nice crowd who was into it all around us and was a fun way to start off the weekend. Managed to turn my partner into a fan which was definitely a nice surprise.
Security: Nonexistent, only had my bag checked once this weekend and had virtually no wait. Weekend 2 ppl who take shuttles, they have either a metal detector side or a side where you walk thru and they check on a computer whether you need to be searched or not go thru the 2nd option for quicker access.
Baby Keem: Came into his set with my group having low expectations and came out a fan. Definitely one of the higher energy sets and pretty good performance overall.
Tiki Bar: At $17 dollars a drink it definitely added up but it was a nice area to unwind and relax. Turned out to be a great meeting spot too since the crowd was sparse. They did stop asking for the password after the first day but thank you to the fellow inforooer who posted the location.
Cons:
Water: The water situation was horrendous, I had a camelback backpack and never once was I able to fill up from either a combination of lines or the stations not working. Before Doja Cat on Sunday, it took me 30 minutes to finally find water at the general store as other places either were out or not selling any.
Dust: Either I’m getting older or my body hasn’t been used to this dust in three years but outta the 4 Coachella’s I’ve been too this one definitely destroyed my lungs the worst. Multiple dust storms at the campsite I had friends at and still feeling the effects of it.
Merch: Longest wait to date by far, either go during the headliners or first thing in the morning or your guaranteed a 90 min + wait
Flume: Biggest dud of the weekend in my opinion and I missed Danny Elfman which I’m sure I’m going to keep kicking myself for that.
Overall I had a blast and will be back for my 5th Coachella next year.
Looks like it. I saw people at various things tapping their phone. Possible pro tip, the general stores might be the one place that takes cash if youre in a bind like your phone died.
Whats some of the best and worst things you guys ate?
Any good desserts?
Had an orange/cream bar that was a damn brick it was frozen so much. I did meet a person who had the illegal secret sushi while riding the ferris wheel.

Anybody happen to have an extra shuttle pass? Of course USPS lost one person in my groups pass from stubhub and all stubhub will do is issue them a credit.

If anyone's looking for W2 tickets still, message me - a couple of my friends just tested positive for Covid and now can't come. Not sure how much they're looking for but we can figure that out if you make an offer.
