I think the oracle role is good but potent strategy might be a little OP. Maf essentially has to whack inspector or oracle N1 and hope the oracle is wrong.
For everyone saying that it was dumb to whack T, he was obviously going to submit a guess for who he was most sus of.
Thus if it was MD, as it was, it just means we’d lose D5 but still lose. If we whacked Tranter and he guessed someone different, it got us to D5 where there was no longer a confirmed townie hanging around.

I do think we need to make it so Oracle can't say they're oracle. Otherwise it's just too OP of a power and they have to be extra careful of throwing the game in town's favor

yeah I don’t mind the Hail Mary play but it’s always hard to account for someone doing the smart thing on D5.

Because Kanye was coming for me D4, and I was ready to fight back, so Maddog could have floated past with Tranter picking a side and KPO/Dan doing whatever they'd do. Assume I am the D4 exile, then you'd either have to whack Kanye with Maddog/T/KPO or Dan or whack the other of KPO or Dan leaving Maddog/T/Kanye. Kanye would have picked Maddog, but Maddog would have come at Kanye and T would have had to pick. That was your best chance.
But I personally also said that before knowing Jaz was mafia.

If he guesses Kanye, then we enter D4 with Kanye as town and Maddog/Potent/Dan/KPO as unknowns. Kanye comes after me, I come after him but realize that he's town so I try another direction, needless to say I am the exile, so Maddog can coast. Then you whack Kanye and it's Dan/Maddog/KPO. There's a chance, sure.
Fwiw I did send a message to the crew asking us to reconsider (and whack Dan instead) but it was a few mins too late bc Jtr announced the Md guess very promptly.
We also were in quite the pickle either way and were genuinely curious to see the Oracle role actually get used as intended

Dan808 what is the meta strategy for oracle in the other places you play?
I’ve only played shot in the dark with oracle so not sure for “regular” mafia. But I think we did well this game with it, I also see value in oracle not revealing and just gaining a random role when they die

So if we haf exiled Tranter day 2 then all we would've gotten was Dan's role as town. By keeping him alive we lowered the amount of people oracle could guess and made mafia sweat. I am 100% firm in the don't exile oracle camp

I'm thinking out loud here - would the oracle reveal if they are in line to be the D1 exile? So we go through everything and I'm oracle, and you and I are the final 2 D1. Would I tell everyone I am oracle, so that I am not exiled? Should I go quietly?
I can see different answers for different situations. I think the D1 situation in this game was so odd that we can't take much from it.

No, it's easy enough for us to lock like we did. I think you handled this end game pretty well.

I'd love to put this level of faith in our Town but I'm not sure we are there yet.

Every time I posted from my strategy until the end of the game, I just kept thinking how I was glad Jortles was dead because we would have been arguing over my strategy. Kind of like what actually happened with my buddy Kanye.
