Would fucking love Fugees at Roo but dont see it happening. Feels like something that would be a Coachella exclusive if they do any festivals at all
I think Fugees are in that weird “want to be a HL but not big enough for Coachella” spot. Could see them headlining some smaller stuff.
I think most folks have bated breath because they have been volatile in the past. But if they come correct and pull off a good run of shows on this tour, they'll definitely be Headliner status for next festival season.
Stevie nicks was booked for 2020 with Missy Elliott
Yeah, that was a magical moment. I don’t know if you know the whole story, but after the near riot Sunday of 2019 and a massive wave of negative feedback, they were going to institute an 18-plus age limit and booked an interesting, older-skewing (relatively) lineup for 2020. I’d bet dollars to donuts it didn’t sell well before COVID caused the cancellation, so this year they went back to being all ages and pivoted hard in a younger direction, lineup-wise. And they sold out. Unfortunately, teens buying passes with credit cards provided by parents who just want their asshole children out of the house for the weekend are where the festival’s bread is buttered, sales-wise.
So, yeah, unless they pivot again next year, I don’t see a legacy act like the Fugees doing much for the typical GovBall audience.
My guess if Tame is back they reclaim a sole headliner spot. I actually do believe the What podcast in this once instance, that Tame was out at one point (likely due to not believing they could realistically tour NA), which is why Roo booked Tyler as a direct Sunday headliner replacement. Tyler kind of seemed like the weirdest Roo What stage closer ever anyway, so it would make sense. Then when Tame could end up playing, they of course had to be demoted to second since all the headliners were now booked.
If Tame does come back, knowing they Roo actually have solid programming going until 3am on Sunday now, I think I like the idea of them closing down What on Sunday, especially since I'd have the whole weekend to look forward it. Though idk, if they got the sole Saturday night headline slot that'd be pretty perfect too for me.

Only VIP is sold out. Every other GA is available at regular price right now, 2 days out from the start of the festival. Being at Citi field sucks imo. They need something other than a parking lot
Nah, I don’t think the Fugees are relevant enough to GovBall’s target audience of 13 year-olds.
i swear like fully half your posts are you clutching your pearls about teenagers at concerts
I don't wear pearls, and I'd wager that's a bit o' hyperbole in terms of my complaint ratio. But fair enough.
It's less about teens at concerts, and more about teens at GovBall, specifically. I dunno, man - the vibe at that particular festival has never been super-communal, but it really took a nosedive once the average age of attendees started to plummet. I'm sure there are plenty of teens who are awesome at concerts, but the ones at GovBall act like total entitled assholes and really harsh things for everybody else, and I'm definitely not alone in thinking that - the implementation of the age policy last year didn't happen because Founders looked at Inforoo and were, like, "Wow, that jorgeandthekraken guy, and he only, really doesn't like teenagers." A *lot* of people aren't into it.
Anyway. It just bums me out to see a festival that used to be really enjoyable become a high school shit show. It's less of a deal now that there are starting to be some other options within striking distance for me, but I reserve an old person's right to bitch about it.
Hahaha!!! I didn’t throw up. But I was super HYPE!!!! I posted this in a different thread already but here it is again. You had to lock up your phone because the show is being televised over the weekend for Global Citizen Fest. But I was able to sneak my phone past security. I only took one video in fear of getting kicked out. They had us waiting for close to 3 hour which absolutely sucked!!! But they were pretty incredible once they hit the stage. I instantly forgot how pissed I was. It was a high school dream come true.
