Its incredibly ironic how much bands like Fallout Boy, AAR, MCR got shat on in the 2000s and now everyone looks back on them fondly while simultaneously shitting on MGK, Kid Laroi, Ian Dior.
Who is fondly looking back at those bands? Unless you were a teenager/tween during that era of mall-pop-punk it really didn't have a huge influence. FOB has become laughable, they went from semi-respectable emo band to a Jock Jamz sound that is the definition of cashing in. MCR is essentially a AFI knock off that had some catchy tunes and faded FAST. Their final tour before breaking up didn't even sell out theatres.

Fair point about FOB, them and Panic have both shit the bed. MCR were about to and are still going to have their comeback though. They had I'm pretty sure a sold out arena tour but then Covid happened. I know they're still headlining Riot Fest so I expect them to finally reschedule that soon. I still think Coachella should go after them for their 3rd headliner.

MCR has a voracious fan base. It's somewhere between mainstream and cult following but they certainly carry more weight than you're giving them here.

I dunno ‘bout these new kids, but I was happily shittin’ on Fallout Boy, AAR, and MCR (well, I did like “Vampires Will Never Hurt You” back in the day) from the start!
Agreed. But we are also old and weren't into that shit when it came out. However, if they were going a little harder than the wimpy emo stuff and at least brought ADTR or Parkway Drive, I'd probably have to go by for the rock show.

Yes, very dedicated fan base. But after this reunion tour I doubt you'll see very much from them, they sold out those shows in a hurry, it's the perfect time for them, their fans they had as teenagers are about that mid-late 20s sweet spot for going to shows.
Are we about to enter an era where people start looking back fondly on the 2001-2008 pop-punk/emo/mallcore scene. I thought hyperpop kind of took over for that cringe.
