I'm actually content that the lineup isn't super to my taste. I'd have had to go through a lot of hurdles to make it happen along with going to Primavera, and this just makes it a super easy decision to not go. From an objective standpoint, I think the lineup is actually decent, outside of the atrocious top 9. However, it's just a lot of stuff that's easy to see elsewhere and doesn't really inspire any FOMO.
Thursday absolutely slaps. Almost every artist on there is worth seeing, but especially Sons of Kemet, Goth Babe, Indigo De Souza, The Weather Station, & Nothing. Kinda sad I have to miss this day.
Friday's top 3 is pretty bad, but I guess I'd enjoy seeing Cole & The Chicks. Disclosure is a great electronic booking. The War on Drugs & Bleachers will do well for the mainstream indie crowd. King Giz & Denzel Curry are amazing live shows. Arlo Parks & J Brekkie put out excellent indie-pop albums last year. Dayglow, Still Woozy, & Briston Maroney are fun sunshiney indie acts. The Regrettes are a great female pop-punk band.
Saturday has TOOL which would easily be the show of the weekend. 21 Savage has some good tracks. Porter Robinson's Nurture Live is incredible, probably the second-best show of the weekend. Chrvches seem fun live. slowthai and 100 Gecs are high-energy live performers who've put out good albums in recent years. Don't know much about the deep undercard.
Sunday is just really bad. Seeing a singer for a legendary band, but she doesn't play the legendary's bands music sounds like awful blue ball. Quack MGK. Roddy Ricch is booked way too high when they had freaking Young Thug as 6th on his day last year. Herbie Hancock and Puscifier would be great shows. Coin and Wallows are a fun indie vibe. Tinashe is a really good neo-soul/R&B artist.
So all in all, I think it's pretty ok. One of the weakest top 9s ever carried by a decent undercard with some good EDM and indie bands. It looks like it'd be a really fun weekend, but I'm not losing sleep over not being able to atttend. Most of the good acts here aren't hard to see elsewhere on other fest lineups. If I somehow end up back from Spain and end up with the weekend free, I might just go, but it would have to be a very spur-of-the-moment decision. I hope 2023 is a bit of a return to form for the top line.
Most Disappointed to Miss: TOOL, Porter Robinson, Denzel Curry, Herbie Hancock, Puscifer, Arlo Parks, The War on Drugs, Tinashe
She puts on a great show, saw her at ‘17 roo, far exceeded expectations
My favorite memory from that show was watching a 50+ year old photographer get dragged away from the concert by his wife. When Tove flashed the crowd he went running up like he was going to somehow get a close up shot and the wife was so pissed. She took him by the arm and led him off. Never saw him the rest of the weekend.
I love when people look at the lineup for a music festival that costs $400+ to attend and are like "I could probably enjoy myself at that"
I mean I've done that with some Lolla lineups, but that doesn't require any travel or lodging costs for me.
Living in proximity to a fest makes it so much easier to justify going. Just about any 4 day car camping fest can have $500 worth of value in bands, but if you add in flights + hotels... it becomes problematic. It's much harder for a fest to reach $1,500+ in value (Primavera is one of the few I can think of that would for me).
Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Lizzo, Normani, Chloe x Halle, Saweetie, Janelle Monae.. But no, the sleezy 31 year old man acting like a 16 year old emo kid.
Sza
I knew I was forgetting someone! Fr, she normally has an album coming out and would make so much more sense.

No the idea is that there is enough on the lineup to make it a top 2 weekend of the year, as Roo always is. Not “ahh that could end up being as good as any other weekend.”
I guess there just isn't that on this lineup for me. Factoring in taking a week off work, flights and car rental, and the general marathon that is Bonnaroo I kind of need the artists to blow me away, and this lineup has all of 2 artists who I can see doing that for me.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 11/21 - Caribou @ Avant Gardner 11/23 - LCD Soundsystem @ Knockdown Center 11/25 - TV on the Radio @ Webster Hall 12/5 - LCD Soundsystem @ Knockdown Center 12/7 - LCD Soundsystem @ Knockdown Center 12/14 - LCD Soundsystem @ Knockdown Center
This is the worst lineup in the history of lineups.
I blame everyone.
Even worse than 2016 or 2017?
Better undercard than 2017, but 2017 also had a top few lines that included U2, RHCP, The Weeknd, Chance (before he sucked), Lorde, Travis Scott, The XX, Glass Animals, Portugal. The Man, Cage The Elephant, Crystal Castles. Would've been super easy to make a chill weekend of just camping out at main stages for high profile acts.
This lineup is like the inverse of that lineup, stacked undercard & EDM, abysmal top few lines.

i just feel like replacing 21 savage, mgk, and roddy rich with asap rocky, megan thee stallion, and kid cudi would be worlds better and i would assume it would be about the same pricewise. i don't know, i just can't get over having 21 savage, mgk, and roddy rich in your top 9.

I mean good job on his manager and booking agent but who the actual fuck listens to MGK? He was a joke for many years and is like if Vanilla Ice and Good Charlotte had a baby and raised it in a trailer park. If Gen Z is making him famous then maybe they aren't quite the generation I was thinking they were.
This lineup would look a lot better if you swapped MGK and illenium for doja/jack Harlow, bumped porter up a few spots & got rid of the washed up bands with assault allegations against them (all time low & lany)
