I think it's stupid to have the same people in the runoffs every game. Jortles and Dan are holdovers from last game - Rummy and Otter are two others, and then me. That's all. I have been advocating for awhile for more randomness on D1. Nobody seems to agree, it's fine. But also there was a lot of silence when the runoff was set, which doesn't sit well with me. Odds say we do have a mafia person in there.
Quietness could also mean we have 2 maf here and they are just sitting back
I dont think quietness is really indicative of anything in particular. I definitely agree with potent re: the sameness of the day 1 runoffs which is why I thought it'd be interesting to try Jaz and also why I stacked on KPO
I agree, my point was just the quietness could mean anything

Dan had a lot of jokey posts. I wonder if Maf was worried he was playing the "keep it light/jokey to not raise suspicion" while Inspector maneuver... or if he raised questions around a name they were worried was his given.
Taking the possibility of the latter into account:

Rum>Silver
Will say I understand the vote for me based on his posts but I Big Promise I'm on your side
i think it could potentially point to theo as well, as i could see Inspector Dan opting for a route of talking directly to/about his given without clear need to, sort of the "hide in plain sight" vibe (e.g. "Theo with the hammer two days in a row")

well if you BIG PROMISE...
you haven't really raised alarm bells for me so far, but as you even acknowledge yourself, you need to be in this runoff bc of the whack

I think it certainly could point to Jortles, Theo, KPO - when I commented on the quietness after the runoff was set, Dan said maybe it means we have two mafia in the runoff. There were four people in the runoff at that point - Dan, Jortles, Theo, KPO.

Theo specifically identifying potent for the last four votes + no votes lists raised by eyebrows too.

That's a good catch. Jortles had a couple posts day 1 that were weird to me

yeah as i was quoting his posts i thought on that too, but mafia knows inspector just has one name d1...so how could he have knownn TWO were in there?

From my perspective, the split looks like this. Feel free to call yourself town instead of me.
Rummy initially voted for Dan, but pulled him out of the runoff after the comment about possibly two mafia was made. Jaz then took his vote off Dan and went to Rummy (at which point I joined him).

wouldn't theo have been whacked?
no. I thought Theo was reaching/ jumping to conclusions too much. E.g., Theo is mafia and looking for reasons to target potent. I don’t think that zero votes is much of a correlation on day 1.

Also I was thinking about this last game. I don't think there's any reason for oracle to hide themself. We saw in the first game how clutch it was to have a confirmed townie keep floating through. Maybe talk this out but I've been sitting this idea for a minute and I can't think of any negatives to oracle revealing even on day 1

It's a strat we've used a few times. Mafia isn't likely to vote for their teammates and they're also likely to vote later since they read the thread with teammate names before voting

Yeah, obviously he would only have one name, but you know how it is when you are mafia - you feel skittish about everything, you think your moves are obvious, etc etc. Knowing one name, he could have had a read on a second person - or, more likely, he made a comment that made each mafia member think he had their name.
TL;DR obviously inspector only gets one name, that doesn't mean inspector doesn't freak out more than one mafia person.
I understand the underlying assumptions. Just seems like a leap to me on day 1. Especially when there were more than one person on the list and Theo only mentioned 1.

They’ll just get whacked D1. That’s a huge liability to keep around for the 3/11 (woah amber is the color of your energy) chance they guessed right

i think in d1 we generally feel "well, this is a place to start at least" in terms of shifting the runoff around to include some folks who didn't initially get votes. but as for using the d1r1 data for the entirety of the game in a big way....eh, i tend to lean towards that not being super productive

From the 4 way mentioned above - Dan, Theo, KPO, Jortles - we ended up with a 5 way - Theo, KPO, Jortles, Rummy, Jaz. So there's likely a mafia in there. Interestingly, the two people added - Rummy and Jaz - were the final two candidates. It really feels like D2 should focus on KPO/Jortles/Theo. KPO made the 3 way, Jortles and Theo dropped out.
