According to IMDB's user ratings.... that's about all.
It's good but it's not all that great compared to the entire history of cinema. You might could argue it's top 10 of the 90's. I wouldn't and I like it quite a lot. Like the short story too.
this movie bangs, and most certainly inspired Desmond's big episode in Lost, even if I can't find that in writing, I'm totally going to gotcha Cuse and/or Lindelof if I ever meet them

Agreed. It's good, but not one of the best. It gave me a third movie based on a Steven King Story.
