There's a new one-day festival in the Boston area on Saturday, August 20, In Between Days Festival, at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy, MA, with Manchester Orchestra, Hippo Campus, Tennis, and five other artists.
I'd really like to see Tennis, but the early bird pricing of $79 isn't such a great deal when they're the only artist on the poster I want to see (Plus, I'd rather be well-rested for a local Decemberists show the next night.)
Still, I've long been clamoring for another festival in the immediate Boston area (like Boston Calling, this one is accessible via subway), so I'm all for this.
In the past, I've avoided Hinterland because it's usually just country, americana, and associated indie. Not quite my scene. This year, I was intrigued to see they booked Glass Animals as Friday's headliner, but they don't move the needle much for me these days. HOWEVER, just this week, there has been a DEVELOPMENT. I don't know when Rainbow Kitten Surprise dropped out, but the band they found to replace them is MOTHERFUCKIN' TURNSTILE!! Imma try to use the 'Break In Case of Emergency' excuse with the gf of IT'S MY BIRTHDAY and attend Friday! That show will probably go down as well as that one time Gogol Bordello opened for Mumford and Sons, but I'm ready to BLEED ACROSS IOWA! Plus I think heard good things about Goth Babe, BM, and The Aces at Bonnaroo this year? REGARDLESS, I'm PUMPED AS HELL and needed to share!

Wow, Turnstile is a huge improvement for my taste.
If that Saturday did it for me (I just don't care about Nathaniel Ratliff at all) and Turnstile had been there since the beginning I'd have really considered this fest. Really love the Thursday and Sunday lineups and the vibes look cool. I looked at one point at just going on the Thursday
not too bad for only $65. plus it's at a newer brewery in town that has a beautiful location right on the wolf river/mississippi confluence with views of the Bass Pro Pyramid and M Bridge. and they have craft malt liquor on tap.

scored cheap weekend pass for this so instead of just going Saturday for Ela Minus > Danny Brown > Toro y Moi my weekend looks more like:
Friday: Flo Milli > IDK > Charli XCX Saturday: The Black Tones > Enumclaw > Ela Minus/Danny Brown > Toro y Moi > Sudan Archives > to da club for Martyn Bootyspoon Sunday: Mariners baseball game > 100 gecs

So, 2,424/6,500 (37%) sold, if we assume he got the capacity bump he was looking for.
There is no way this thing is in the black, or coming back for another year, unless he has deep pocketed investors who are doing this for fun.
Given the ticket price this is not at all shocking to me lol. Still a bummer though! Main reason I'm doing is because a good friend moved out to Seattle and I'd been looking for an excuse to get out there and see him

there's some really good stuff on there. but those ticket prices... I was thinking like 150-200. $350 is insane

Well, Ticketmaster's "dynamic pricing" has moved the goalposts on what's insane, considering that $350 won't get even get you an arena balcony seat for some of the upcoming Springsteen shows. That's for just one band.
Some of these line-ups don't belong in here. It's only naming and shaming here. Those Afropunk, Thing and Hinterland line-ups are all great lol. Even that Capitol Hill thing has some very nice stuff on there - ofc targeted at zoomers. Also don't know why that North Beach fest line-up needs to be here, seems like a nice time for jam-fans.

i think this thread was intended for misc fests in general, hence the shaming And sharing in the title
