No shame. I wanna do this one year but the timing is never right.
This year is pretty good, but I did it once and it was a lot more club shows that end up being way less impressive in reality than they are on paper. Tinashe and Vieux Farka Toure are really cool bookings.

It’s all Tinashe, honestly. I’m just jealous of everyone that gets to see her while I’m pumping the brakes on shows.

Going to buy a Sunday pass. From research, most everything I want to see is Sunday (Isbell, Stringdusters, Pigeons, Neal Francis, Ghost of Paul Revere).
And now former Buffalo Bills kicker and all time leading scorer Steve Christie on site jamming and hosting an in-festival tailgate during the Bills game. I mean how much more local festival can you get.
Actually won two tickets to this through Jambase. Have stuff going on during the daytime both days but free Moon Taxi >> Revivalists and Pigeons >> Isbell isn't a bad thing.

Briefly considered getting tix after Roo collapsed but I'm mainly interested in Sunday and I'm more interested in watching the Bills game. Still seeing if I can find a couple of cheap tix just to go for Jason Isbell after the game but I'm not trying too hard.
need to eventually spend a weekend in Lockhart and just eat as much BBQ as humanly possible.
Yeah. Even some Texans don’t know about it. But many do which is why that shit has survived for more than 80 years. Some of the pitmasters in the Hill Country know what they are doing. I’d throw in Burnt Bean Co in Seguin with the best of Lockhart but with infinitely better sides. Chefs.

Wait what?? What is this BBCo? I was born and raised in Seguin and my parents still live there, but I have never heard of this place!
To be fair, my parents' neighbor is a champion meat-smoker so anytime he's running his smoker they'll throw something on for themselves. But still, I need to check this out next time I'm home.

Beyond spectacular. It's owned and run by two Chopped Champions including Grandchampion Pitmaster Ernest Servantes. We were in New Braunfels back in late May and got to go try it out. It was blow away. We sold them out of pork loin, dinosaur ribs and a couple other things that hopefully the line waiting out the door wasn't looking to get. But like I said, the thing about them that makes them so good is the attention to the sides. Every side dish was excellent and featured a chef's touch. Similarly, the desserts were also delicious - their version of banana pudding is the best I've ever eaten. And the big red parfait/trifle was also great even though i don't even drink soft drinks much less Big Red. I posted about it on the Food Thread around Memorial Day after we got to try it. Fucking A+ all the way.
Here's some Texas dudes doing a review. They don't start eating until about 8 minutes in, but check it out if you get a chance.
Thank you! I just sent this to my dad, he said they've never been! I think I'm getting him excited for it though
Word. Let me know what he says. My buddy who lives down there and turned me into Central TX BBQ and has since gone back and reiterated how good it was.

My dad is just a grump sometimes and if he saw that line out the door he would just assume not deal with it. If I told him to go with me he would, though. Might have to squeeze in a trip home soon for this!

Nice little fest. Took my 15 yo daughter to her first festival experience today. Moon Taxi was a lot more fun than I thought they’d be. Looking forward to the lineup tomorrow.

Nice. I went to HS with one of the founders. She came up through AC. They seem to have their stuff together.
You see that festival is weird because if you take The Lumineers off, I actually fuck with that Saturday lineup pretty heavy. Sunday on the other hand, yikes.
