Thrilled for Jesse Marsch that Leeds stayed up. After Everton, was rooting for Leeds of all the other relegation candidates. Now they have Aaronson coming from Salzburg for £28 million.

Ukraine has been on the front foot in Cardiff all match and they just can't find the quality in the final third. Wales score a garbage free kick and it looks like USA will face Wales in the first world cup group match.

Tough game for the USMNT, got to be happy with the draw but should have got the W. The field conditions were crazy though, I remember those mud games… hard to have control with a soggy ball and you’re sliding everywhere. I love the fight in the team though.
Crazy how soccer was a dead sport when I moved here in 1999 and now the city is going to host a world cup group. Dream come true, I will finally get to go to a World Cup match

Grant Wahl (sorry tЯist♡n) listed his 12 picks for US host cities based on his reporting. The thought is that US gets 10, but might get 11 and if Edmonton is out, might get 12. 12th is Nashville (but he says that's mostly a guess), 11th is Baltimore/DC (games in Baltimore, fan zone in DC), and the 10 "locks" are Atlanta, Dallas, NYC (Meadowlands), Philly, KC, Seattle, LA, Miami, San Fran/Bay Area, and Houston.

i guess there's no hard and fast rule about which round/how many games a host city gets? i guess they could do group stages in 8 cities (each city hosts a group?), then knock outs, quarters, semis and finals at the other 8. im assuming metlife will get the finals and mexico city gets a semi

Well, in 2026 they expand to 48 teams, I think the idea is 16 groups of 3 with 2 group matches and 32 teams (first and second places) advancing to knockout. There are 80 matches total, 60 in the US and 10 in each Canada and Mexico.
It could mean that each group is based in one city to minimize travel. It seems based on the regional announcements yesterday (West/Central/East) that at the very least a side would be based in one of those three regions in the group stage.

Expanding on that thought:
Canada - 2 hosts, so 5 matches each. With 3 matches in a group, that would mean Toronto and Vancouver would host 2 knockout matches each. I would also bet that one of them would host a semi, or the 3rd place match.
Mexico - 3 hosts, so 3 each with probably Mexico City hosting a 4th. If that meant a group to each city, seems unlikely that Mexico City only hosts one knockout match but that's what my model would dictate.
USA - 11 hosts, no reason for them to be equally distributed but if there were one group in each city, that's 33 matches, so 27 left to assign. Figure that NYC and LA host semis/final (semis in Mex City and NYC, final in LA?). That would be 25 knockout matches to 11 cities. It will be interesting to see how they divide those matches between regions.

Yes and I just read the QFs through final are all in USA. So including the 3rd place game that is 8 games. I made a quick matrix and came up with
USA Group: 33 games (in 11 cities) R32: 13 games (in 11 cities LA and NYC get 2) R16: 6 games (in 4 or 6 cities) QF: 4 games (in 2 or 4 cities) SF: 2 games (1 each in NYC/LA) 3rd place: NYC Final: LA Total 60 games
Mexico Group: 9 games in 3 cities R32: 1 game in Mexico City R16: none sorry too hot Total 10 games
Canada Group: 6 games in 2 cities R32: 2 games in 2 cities R16 2 games in 2 cities Total 10 games

Im so pissed they didnt pick The Rose Bowl even for one match. The most legendary stadium and you dont think its a good fit. At least they dont have to have make the pitch larger like Sofi does.
I went in 94, so this will just be me taking my dad instead of him taking me.
