11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
So I bought a pass for Friday.. $128 all in, first tier pricing.. Pretty steep for a first year fest, but it's about an hour away from me and Johnnyswim > Peach Pit > Toad the Wet Sprocket > Grouplove > Dave & Tim is a solid enough lineup to make it worth it.

So I'm willing to guess that this fest isn't selling half as well as it seems, it's probably 30k cap, and probably 20,000 out of those 30k tickets are final tier pricing.. which would be a brilliant marketing strategy to maintain the illusion of demand. That would explain why all single day tickets are still first tier.

That definitely seems to be the trend now. In nearby DC, Something in the Water supposedly whipped through the first 2 tiers of their ticket sales (tier 1 basically never existed and tier 2 was done within minutes of the general on sale) and has sat on tier 3 ever since. I think Tier 4 is mostly there to scare people into buying tier 3 or to get people with a last minute buyer tax. As with most festivals these past two years, resellers are struggling to even get back Tier 1 or 2 prices and many will probably end up waiting too long and take a total bath on their passes -- and SITW just gave away 4,000 free passes to graduating high school students in DC (which is a nice gesture but shows they have plenty of passes to get rid of still).
Selling out early tiers almost immediately generates an artificial sense of scarcity and drives people to purchase who may have been on the fence -- along with generating valuable news coverage of the event. It's a pretty gross tactic and I think these festivals are going to feel the pain even more next year when people who got burned don't bite a second time.

Schedule posted.. basically this fest is just 2 stages with a third stage for chefs demonstrations and Toad the Wet Sprocket and a couple other smaller bands. Pretty bummed that Grouplove is conflicting with Toad the Wet Sprocket, it's literally the only conflict of the weekend and coincidentally the only day I'm going.

Yeah, this developing forecast sucks a lot, pretty much the worst conditions for a beach festival. This is why Fall festivals, despite being better than Summer fests in a lot of ways, are a bad idea. It's crazy Sea Hear Now hasn't had to deal with weather issues yet.

"There's still hope" smh. This is gonna suck. Have tickets for Sat and Sun and can't see at least some how shows won't be canceled with the current forecast.

"There's still hope!" is something I never want to hear a festival say
I think Friday will go as planned for at least most of the day.. Saturday and Sunday aren't looking great though. Hopefully things change for everyone going the whole weekend or the latter part.

Anyone in the DMV that's bummed about Ocean's Calling should look at the prices of All Things Go on Stubhub.. I just bought a $45 Pavilion ticket ($63 w/ fees). I don't even care if it rains all day if I'm under a pavilion, although I'd like to check out a couple sets at the Chrysalis stage.

The resale cratering has been hilarious to watch, it sold out earlier this week and this morning GA lawn was reselling for as low as $15. I got my ticket lawn ticket with 9:30 club benefits points when it was announced, otherwise I’d absolutely jump on a $63 pavilion seat. Gonna trust in my rain pants, jacket, boots, etc. and as many layers as I can manage.
Edit: it’s also the second time this has happened, bad weather and the tail end of the Delta covid-19 wave dropped resale to $20-30 last year.

Maryland barely gets any festivals as it is. Why does O.A.R have to be the face of its biggest one? Big UGH, although I'm tentatively hopeful for some decent names otherwise.
Is there concrete proof that O.A.R. will be involved in this year's lineup at all? Also curious how much of this is remnants of last year, and how much is crossover with Sea Hear Now.. I'd say 50% of the lineup will consist of one or the other..

I'd also say Weezer is probably a safe bet.
"A three day festival in partnership with musicians O.A.R. featuring over 30 performances on 3 stages, all on the classic Ocean City Boardwalk."
This is directly under the main page saying lineup on the 14th. Weezer seems pretty likely I haven't checked their tour routing but why not? Anybody think Blink 182 would play this?

Yeah, I mean I saw that OAR was playing according to the website, but I was hoping that was just a vestige of last year that had yet to be updated.. Then I noticed that, unlike last year, OAR won't be performing multiple sets according to the website, so I guess they did update the info.. bummer.
