Saw EWF a few years back. The arena was maybe a quarter full at best for Chic (shameful turn out) who opened and dude behind me pissed his pants between acts which he announced to no one in particular.
Is Little Simz a possibility for this? I can’t remember if she was discussed in the thread yet.
Nope. The May Chicago date is too late for that to be an option. On top of that she is at Lolla Paris the same weekend ( presumably ) of the festival. Assume any artist that has tour dates going through chicago before mid March and is avail in July has a shot.

Artists can play Chicago in May and them come back and play P4K. Courtney Barnett is a recent example off the top of my head.
Mitski seemed like a slam dunk to headline this but Pitchfork's review of her latest album felt very "we still like Mitski but she's trying to go mainstream and we're not saying that just because she's playing Lolla this year".
Lolla really has no real radius clause anymore so if she was on the lineup she likely would have booked a spring show in Chicago. The fact that she didn't makes me think she's headlining Pitchfork. Also they gave her a 7.8. Past headliners have had lower scores than that on their newest release.
It's totally possible - I thought it was a very interesting and reserved review given their past admiration and her rising profile. Even the 7.8 (!!) instead of an 8 felt petty and more pitchforky then usual.

Yeah, but its not as if they didnt want St Vincent to headline since she deserved the spot and has a really good live show anyway. I dont think theyre gonna go back on a booking they made months ago cause a couple songs on a new album didnt sit well with a reviewer
I mean theyre not technically out until the poster says so. You do have to head west to get to Australia from NY, so if they got rebooked to play on Friday Pitchfork its not as if they cant get to Australia with 4 days before that solo show on the 20th. Wet Leg has a reasonable shot to be at the festival since their last show is July 9th in Glasgow and they can head this way to get to Australia same as YYY's. Keep in mind that Phoebe was going to come from England to play in 2020, so a quick jump across the atlantic isnt out of the question.
Ok so super random that Idles kinda took themselves out of contention for Riot and skipped chicago with a small window to play the sunday. Also random is NIN pinned the Pitchfork article when it came to their tour announcement. Like of all the publications they could choose when it came to doing that.

Beach House has a show in the weekend of Pitchfork. But that probably rules them out.
Glad there is no Beach House. You would just be watching a dark stage for 80 minutes, whats the use.
And no Wet Leg sadly. Theyre in Detroit the weekend of Lolla which all but locks them up for that.
?? They had a sick, trippy/dreamy stage design when they toured with '7'? And by the looks of it, the new show also consists of mostly the same ingredients.

Missed most of Beach House for Ratchet-era Shamir when they headlined in 2016 but I thought it was an enjoyable enough show. Sufjan and twigs were both better but that's pretty stiff competition
