My guess would be MCR would be the RATM replacement, so to speak. I doubt both show up.
Given how MCR has had a Firefly sized whole in their schedule since long before Rage decided to postpone their early year shows, I don't see why you'd think the two are mutually exclusive. I could definitely see this fest doing something like Rage - MCR - Dua Lipa or Lorde - Halsey.
That would be this years beast of headliners, IMO.

The Smile? Looks like they could be touring the US in the fall 👀 It’s certainly possible since they were able to court Caribou for a one off last year
More likely that they do a sold out run of The Anthem in DC, Met in Philly and either Radio City or Kings Theatre in NY then playing a one off at Firefly
Allegedly theres going to be an ODESZA announcement tomorrow. Could definitely see them getting headliner billing going forward, if anywhere, they absolutely would here.

I hate to be this pessimistic, but there's no chance Firefly books Odesza...
Unless they start appearing on lineups within the next month (which we can re-visit later), there is simply no way Firefly is the exclusive booking of the year.

if they really are coming back this year, my hunch is that Lollapalooza would be the first appearance. Though since there has been radio silence, I wouldnt be surprised if it ended up being a 2023 return

Totally agree. I think they will let the album marinate in 2022, for sure a festival and tour run in 2023.
I take back what I said. LMAO. Single is out. They could be targeting end of 2022, all of 2023 festival run.
Would be a MASSIVE get, and could single handedly sell the fest out if its the only east coast show in 2022.
Odesza is big, but they are not sell out an entire fest singlehandedly big. Also if they are touring Firefly is certainly not going to be the only East Coast date.
