my morning routine is blending a cup of almond milk, a couple squeezes of lemon juice, a peeled/cored apple, some blueberries, a hard boiled egg, a handful of unshelled peanuts, strawberries, some Nolan Ryan's ™ ground sausage crumbles, honey, and some wheat grass. game changer.
I live in California and don't make grits, I'm just trying to translate for the European lol. Polenta is super firm, not sure how else to describe grits compared to that!
All arguments on here for grits are what a wonderful dinner option it is. This says breakfast foods. Be honest. You guys don’t eat grits for breakfast.
I exclusively eat grits for breakfast (because shrimp are disgusting sea bugs). When I worked in Atlanta, there was a little diner a half a block over from my office, and I would get grits a couple of times a week. Most recently, I had breakfast at the Waffle House with my mother on October 25, when I had two eggs, toast, and grits.

3/1 water (salted!) to grits, shouldn't take more than like 15 minutes on medium high to soak up all the water, add a pad of butter and black pepper to taste, dress it up however you like. I'm a fan of some scallions, cheddar, and hot sauce

yep, this ^^^
i also add nooch. because nooch is life, and it gives it the undertone of cheesy yumminess even if you don't add cheese on top.

Nooch is simply short for Nutritional Yeast. It's what the cool kids say. Nutritional yeast is deactivated yeast and can be bought in the form of powder or flakes. It is very popular especially among vegans and health-conscious people because of the cheesy flavor

Yogurt shouldn't be getting such a free pass here. Underwhelming breakfast option. Grits are just a vehicle for butter so I'm not sure they're making it to the end but going out first doesn't make me that much happier even if oatmeal stays.

I am so fucking busy at work but when I saw the title of this post I couldn't NOT thoroughly read all 7 pages.
While I don't agree with the hate on grits, I did vote for it as the worst breakfast food. Shrimp and Grits? Delish. But not a breakfast food IMO. I don't understand grits for breakfast.
Oatmeal is fine when you dress it up a ton. Healthy and filling. But not my favorite. Bs&Gs is the real winner here.

At one nursing home I used to work at it used to be the hot cereal option along with oatmeal every day and cream of wheat was always more popular! Never understood that.
