I have seen both Coldplay and Muse. I would prefer Muse because the last time I saw them was on my birthday at Voodoo fest (2010) when they still had the dueling stages and were at the old location (different part of the same park). It was one of my best festival nights ever.
I would say in terms of quality of catalog and singles, Coldplay probably has the edge there. In terms of great live performances? Muse wins easily. I also find Muse’s music more interesting and in my experience has paired well with certain mindsets. I think they are both fantastic though and I don’t mean that ironically. Muse at Coachella 2010 and Glastonbury 2016 were some of the most fun sets I’ve caught. Both are just played out and their new music is boring, but that could be said for many.

Interesting.
I’ll admit I made this poll with the clear personal winner for myself in mind (Coldplay), but it was generating heated debate between some folks where a few people realllly felt it is Coldplay and a few others felt strongly it is Muse - so I figured let’s take it to a poll!
There’s a lot of musical talent within Muse as a musical act, yes. And I have heard that their live show is good, so I’d certainly check it out. But only a few of their songs have ever really caught my ear
Also very relevant to mention that I have significant emotional nostalgia attachment to older Coldplay - like the first three albums, through X&Y. So that certainly is a factor for me

Matt Bellamy has more talent than all of Coldplay.
This is a hot take… Chris Martin has one of the most beautiful voices in current music. Just currently using it to make meh music lol. And he’s very good on the keyboard, plus their guitarist is good too IMO

If we’re talking musical capabilities, Muse wins by far. They’re all pretty exceptional at their instruments and Matt is a way more interesting vocalist than Chris

Bellamy has incredible vocal range , is a great guitarist and keyboard player. He doesn’t really showcase it anymore. I loved their old shows where he’d sing and run back and forth between guitar and the keyboards. Now he’s paying other people to fill in those parts. You really think Chris has one of the most beautiful voices in current music? I never thought that but I only loved their first 2 albums. Do they still have a guitarist, I haven’t heard from him in over 15 years.

I do. Not saying it is the Most Interesting Voice but one of the most beautiful, yes. His range is insane but also the tone of his lower register is just gorgeous IMO

Chris Martin is one of the most repulsively corny people to have ever lived. Muse is Imagine Dragons for people who played a lot of Guitar Hero.
jesus lmao somebody has a lot of feelings on this
repulsive, really? seems an aggressive term to assign to someone who at least does some pretty great things with their fame/money - and to EVER have lived? my goodness that's quite the feat of his!

Muse is what would happen if everyone on 4chan was also a theater kid. Coldplay are overly saccharine trend chasers who have been avoided being labeled boring music for moms simply because they’re men.

huh? that part doesn't even make sense - isn't "boring music for moms" pretty much always male artists?

Ok I thought I had at least one more left in me but I can’t think of any more Coldplay disses. I don’t actually have too many strong opinions on this but *someone* had to make some incredibly inflammatory comments. Where’s everyone’s hater spirit?

I think Coldplay’s live show is being slept on a little here. I get the sense that if there was a big inforoo group at a Coldplay set, it would be a much better time than a group of us at a Muse show. Plus you get those nice little light up wristbands.
