Either way, an egg sandwich/biscuit/english muffi/bagel would be improved with sausage or chicken on it.

These meats are bigtime players in the egg sandwich universe.

Sausage egg and cheese is pretty much a staple on a lot of menus Ive come across in my day.

You're missing out on the chicken / egg combo. Very heartwarming to see mother and child reunited on that sandwich.

Should've just called it a breakfast sandwich tbh. Let people fill in their own blanks as to what will be inside

yeah like if you tell me you're having an egg sandwich for breakfast I'm just assuming it's an egg either scrambled or fried, topped with cheese, and likely a protein of some kind (bacon/sausage/ham) on either a bagel, roll, croissant or english muffin

if someone tells me they're having an egg sandwich for breakfast and pulls out plain scrambled eggs on dry white toast then im calling the cops and getting them placed on a 72-hour hold

exactly, it's an egg mcmuffin with additions like sausage or bacon. Egg McMuffin is the top of the umbrella.

Hate to help JTR here at all but the current online McDonald's Breakfast Menu shows that an Egg McMuffin is egg, ham, cheese, on an english muffin. They call what VC described a Sausage McMuffin with Egg.

Growing up, an egg sandwich was scrambled eggs and mayo on plain, untoasted white bread. I am not above eating this now if I’m in the right mood (although I’m not trying to eat a ton of white bread these days).

My favorite egg sandwich now is the Cracked Croissant from the Cracked Egg in Las Vegas (Nic Cage’s breakfast place of choice, although I hear he’s partial to the huevos rancheros) with over easy eggs, cheddar cheese, and ham. It’s basically a perfect breakfast.
