It might be 25k total across the two days. It’s that empty.
Too soon to tell. Looks like a decent amount of people coming in through the gates. I wouldnt blame anyone for coming after 6/7 just cause of the weather.
Ying Tang Twins was the frat party everyone expected it to be.
What a great day, everything was easy to get to, met a ton of people. All the bands were good.. Yves was the best, Circle Jerks pit came through as expected , Le Tigre didn’t skip a beat, I admittedly know nothing about LCD but they put on a good show. I’m bummed I missed Mac but meh I had a great time. Despacio was dope AF, I could have spent hours in there and been cool with it. Idk how I’m gonna do tomorrow… I’m expecting to be exhausted by the end of it all.
Hope to catch some Despacio before Genesis Owusu. I’m wearing a mustard-colored Casbah shirt.
Its too dark to see anyone lol. Dont know why there isnt a bit more light in there. Theyve used more lighting before too.
Okay, it wasn't just my imagination. I was basically bumbling around in there trying to maneuver. It definitely wasn't that dark at Coachella 2016. Tomorrow I'll have more time to spend in there.
I'll do a more detailed recap later, but that Le Tigre reunion fully lived up to the hype. A mask is also good just as a dust shield; the number of festivals at this site this year has really taken a toll on the grass.

Yeah we went in a little after 2 and the darkness plus the oddly squishy floor made things a bit disorienting. We went back in a couple hours later and it wasn’t too crowded and not as dark. I loved the stuff they were playing.
Day one was fun. Definitely getting some FYF vibes. Even the songs between Le Tigre and LCD reminded me of the FYF DJ.
Yesterday was a blast and I’m deeefinetly feeling it. Looking forward to dragging myself back today, although this schedule is gonna be a mess.
Rankings from Saturday..
1) LCD SoundSystem - Had a really great spot about ten rows back. This was my 6th time seeing them and IMO it’s the best they’ve sounded post hiatus. Finally hearing Yr City’s A Sucker was just nuts. I loved it.
2) Magdalena Bay - The surprise hit of the day. Wow, how is this band not bigger? Thought they really blew the crowd away with a tightly choreographed performance and superb stage presence.
3) Despacio - James Murphy DJing was a real treat. Holy shit, I stayed in there for over 2 hours and had to drag myself away. Hearing Kate Bush, David Bowie, Paul McCartney all mixed like that was glorious. And the panning of that Soundsystem is insane!
4) Kaytranada - Dug this show mostly because of the fun crowd and cool visuals. I’ve always enjoyed their music, but performance wise IDK how much is really going on onstage, ya know. This was still a dancey good time and I enjoyed the energy he and the crowd put out.
5) Le Tigre - I was worried about this one, but they pulled through. An entertaining show from a band that hadn’t played in a long time. Surprised people in the crowd actually knew their songs and weren’t just waiting for LCD, which was cool. Very fun energy on stage.
6) Maral / Dave P - Grouping these together since it was early in the day and the shaded dance floor at the 19th Hole provided a chill atmosphere for these DJ sets. Both were great in their own ways, with Maral fusing middle eastern music, hip hop, and house together, and Dave P being a little more Avant garde throwing in ambient soundscapes, bass, and opera.
7) Earl Sweatshirt - Here is where the quality drops off IMO. Earl is a GREAT rapper. Not much of a performer. Show wise, I felt like I was just watching him rehearse. Not much going on other than him flowing over the track. I did like his joking around with the crowd about the festival. Otherwise, finally got to see him, and I’m good.
8) Yves Tumor - Love Yves’ albums but this guy sucks live. He has one of the sickest live bands, yet he decides to half heartedly sing over a backing track of his vocals. Wtf? And repeatedly telling the crowd he’s over it and sing for him on Kerosene? Uh, nah dude. I came to watch YOU perform, not slouch around on stage mumbling your lyrics telling us you’re over this. Could have been my favorite show if Yves gave a fuck about his performance. He was way better at Desert Daze and maybe he just hated his time slot or the heat or was going through some shit, but I wasn’t feeling his attitude.
Left Mac DeMarco off the list since I saw two songs, thought it sounded awful and left to get a good spot for Kaytranada. Mac seemed to be having a goofy good time as always, but in the back the sound was too low and people were noisy, so it was an easy pass.
I’m glad someone else was there, too. I got excited they pushed Jorja back (I assume the sound bleed) but I got full sets from both.
Where I was at, people were dancing and partying and was one of my highlights from yesterday.
Not sure what the plan is today, time wise but I’ll definitely be in by Spellling / Mike Watt. If I have another day like yesterday, pretty sure @twentytwo is gonna get me drunk and watch metal all day.

Saturday rankings:
1. Le Tigre - This was my no. 1 act for the weekend and they didn't disappoint me. Bikini Kill shirts were the most common shirts I saw in the audience yesterday, so I was glad a sizable contingent of their following showed up. "Decaptacon" was the crowd moment of the day, and I'm happy they did "Phanta" and "Viz". This girl next to me was completely out of it and took way too much of whatever she took (she kept responding to imaginary things she thought I said), so I hope she made it out okay the rest of the night.
2. Magdalena Bay - Honestly, just let these two write all pop music from now on. They were a blast when I saw them in December, but my one criticism of that show was how they needed more of a band to minimize the amount of playback. Well, they listened (or, more likely, they just got a bigger budget), because they got a drummer and it improves the show. Did not expect them to trot out the newly released deluxe track either! Can't wait for whatever they do next.
3. LCD Soundsystem - 75-minute headline sets are probably fine for The Strokes (I'm expecting them to play an hour tops tonight honestly), but not when you're LCD Soundsystem and your songs are 10 minutes apiece. It meant we got to hear none of the deep cuts they've trotted out at recent shows like "Thrills", "On Repeat", and "Beat Connection". Still a great time. Did anyone else jump in the sand trap dance party where everyone knew every lyric and bounced around like it was a beach party? My body is completely sore from it but it was so fun.
4. Julia Jacklin - Lovely set, though her sparser sound would have probably been better suited to one of the smaller stages. "Lydia Wears a Cross" is definitely ending up on my list of songs of the year.
5. Indigo De Souza - My friend really wanted to see her, and I thought she was good, but I was under the impression that "Hold U" was her biggest song, so I was surprised and bummed she didn't play it.
6. Ethel Cain - Ended up seeing Ethel over Courtney after all (I like Courtney, but I've seen her a few times and her latest album is pretty dry), and I definitely echo what others have said about her sound being more suited to a small room than an open field. Doesn't help that she opened with her punchiest number, "American Teenager", and then slowed down the vibe for the remainder of the set.
7. Kaytranada - Caught the back half of his set after eating dinner, and I dunno, I've just never understood the appeal of this guy. Massive crowd who was eating it up, so it's clearly a "me" problem.
Caught part of Genesis Owusu who seemed like a fun time, but didn't see enough to really offer a detailed take.
Incomplete: Despacio - As mentioned, above it was weirdly dark and kinda gave me a sense of vertigo compared to its Coachella version. Gonna go again today and see if it's any better.
The irony of Despacio is that they posted this photo for it. So why couldnt it have been 7 hours of that. Weather still looking good and itll be a few degrees cooler which im sure will help with all of the moshing thats going to ensue today.

Day 1 ruled. I’ll be there today wearing black shorts, a pink j brekkie shirt and I’ll be next to my much too good looking for me fiancée. Probably smoking weed.
It was great yesterday. It didn't feel undersold at all. I did Isabella Lovestory > Dawn Richard > Despacio > Leon Vynehall > Yves Tumor > Ethel Cain > Magdalena Bay > Kaytranada > Honey Dijon > Le Tigre > LCD Soundsystem.
Ready for day 2. I'll probably be the guy next to garageland pretty much all day, wearing a black Big Ears tshirt.

Had a great day! I've never been that into Le Tigre so I had no idea what to expect. It was quite the surprise at first but I liked it once I settled into the set. LCD was great even though it was a shortened set. Arooj Aftab sounded great. Better set than at Coachella and a great way to start the day. I had a bunch of mobility issues so I ended up watching Isaiah Rashad instead of leaving Fairway. Not my cup of tea but at least he didn't let the backing track do all the work like other similar acts.
Not entirely sure I'll be able to make it today. In a world of hurt and not sure I can do all that walking today even with ada. We'll see if the muscle relaxers and percocet will work their magic or not.

it may be because i haven’t been to another festival with it before, but I thought that how dark and disorienting despacio was enhanced the whole thing
great day yesterday. leon vynehall, MCDE, honey dijon were the main events for me leading into LCD, who killed as usual. short set was unfortunate but they made the most of it. see y’all in the pits today

Agreed. I loved the dark discotheque vibes of Despacio. Fuck it, gonna skip Spelling since I’ve seen her twice and just hang out in Despacio all afternoon until Nothing.

Being this is my 3rd fest with it there it was by far the darkest one. Panorama was the same as coachella where they had some lights going in some form, be it minimal. But at least you could see when you walked in and werent essentially blind. Even the first version of Yuma tent at Coachella was pretty dark except they just had the disco shark dimly lit and then did some strobes every once in a while.
So it seems that Greens and Back Nine are going to go back and forth now? Zulu is waiting to go on while They Hate Change finishes up. Its gonna throw everyones schedule off now. They shouldve just made these go back and forth from the get go.
I'll be in a blue Glastonbury shirt today and my green Coachella hat. Hoping to arrive in time to catch a little Mike Watt. Yesterday was awesome - much better than Cruel World (Day 1) IMO

Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

i heard that there's gonna be a surprise set from blink 182 right before the strokes
Did NONE of y’all go see Godford? If so, you’re all cancelled.
I did. He kept his mystique with a bandanna wrapped around his face.
It was a good set. Nothing I went crazy over but really solid.
and holy shit. My worst fear was Spellling wouldn’t translate on that stage and I was right. Much better suited for the Green. I bolted for Watt after a few songs.
