After seeing what happened with Smokin’ Grooves, I’m hesitant to attend Primavera Sound at all.
Already committed to Cruel World festival. If that goes off without a ton of inconveniences, I’m gonna start looking out for TANP tickets.
What happened? I think I heard sound was terrible and vendors were poorly managed. Would it be the same team running Primavera LA?
Yeah, shitty sound on the main stage, vendors running out of food early, and production delays leading to sets being cut short. I’m not sure if there’s any cross over between their teams but logistically, operations will need to be pretty similar if not expanded for Primavera. Makes me think a festival the size of Primavera in that spot is doomed to the same fate, if not worse.
TANP has an advantage as the same promoters are putting on Just Like Heaven, Cruel World, and TANP all at the same location. They’ll likely have their shit together.
I agree with everything you said however Primavera has to be thinking long term about establishing an LA festival so they’ll need to make this one great even if they lose money on it, if it sucks they’re out of the market so hopefully they pull it together. Before the renovation there were several successful festivals at that park so it has to be possible to do it right.
Anyone else notice early bird price tier is still available for this? Just looked at the pricing options and saw the $299 price available for a 2 day pass.
Keep in mind that TANP and the others that happen in Pasadena have an big advantage over Prima which is space. The Golf course and surrounding area around the stadium is going ti be changed to fit whatever is needed. Prima has to squeeze it all into a tiny space whereas in Pasadena there were plans to try to have a 80,000 a day fest there. So theres plenty of configurations to be looked at and how they will set stuff up. I could see it as 4 stages with Despacio inside the stadium or a dance stage in the stadium just to use up the space and not worry about overcrowding. Like FYF used the infrastructure of the coliseum and it helped with restrooms and vendors. You could do similar here.
Oof, Saturday is pretty light for me. Almost all the acts I want to see are on Sunday.

Sunday is much more top-heavy for me, but Friday still has enough I'll want to get there early for. Might get in the fray of the pit for Le Tigre > LCD cause that sounds fun as hell, while Phoebe > Strokes is a run I'm gonna watch from a safe distance in the back for sure.

Saturday looks good for early day Despacio and wait out a good spot for LCD. Sunday looks fun for hopping around all day. Definitely going to this fest now.

this looks pretty good, only praying for no LCD/Sleep conflict on Saturday. Shame, IDLES, and Turnstile on Sunday should be wild. If I can see those three, Mdou Moctar, and Wet Leg that's a serious win.
my thinking rn is that i am going to wait on the schedule but then potentially just do saturday because i'll have already been in Cali for like a week at that point (for work conference in Monterey), so the idea of being able to get back home that Sunday instead of taking all of Monday as a travel day sounds really appealing. and there's stuff i'd be sad to miss on the sunday, yeah, but saturday is actually the day that has most of the "gah i've never seen this and really don't want to miss this opp to do so"
