this is what i have to tell myself. i don't really like tame beyond innerspeaker, but at least if it's lonerism i won't have to hear anything from currents or onward lol
I think their transition after Currents is a totally different band with a different feel. I personally like all their music, although Innerspeaker is still #1. To me, the biggest atrocity with Tame post Currents is all the shitty “general public” listeners that started showing up to their concerts, packing their shows full of lameos.
Seeing Tame for the first time front row at Cats Cradle during the Lonerism tour was spectacular. Makes me excited for Desert Daze if they are playing the LP in its entirety. Because after that tour, they were no longer that version of Tame Impala.
I don't know why but I can't really get too into anything after Innerspeaker. Lonerism is okay, and I see the appeal of Currents and The Slow Rush but they're not my bag. Which is crazy because I consider myself into pretty much everything except stadium country, but idk, just never really clicked for me. If they really are playing Lonerism I'll check out the set because I'm a sucker for full album performances, I just hope there's lots of new artists on the rest of the bill.

It'll probably be another week at least. Fingers crossed for next Tuesday but trying to be realistic lol. It's nice to know it's imminent though either way, I haven't felt anticipation like this in quite some time.

Same, I really hope Gizz is there as I’ve never seen them live before, but hoping for something else as the third headliner! 2019 was nuts with Anco -> Stereolab -> Flaming Lips on the Friday night, all with headlining length sets. Felt like 3 headliners in one night for me! If I had to pick the third headliner I might wish for The Cure, but I’m sure they command a fair chunk of change as well

or maybe we get at least one act from each of the past DDs which would be kinda fun. haven't seen mention of 2015 headliner warpaint who appears to be available...

On that note, I wish I knew what DD’s budget was and how much each band gets paid. Just a curiosity for someone who enjoys seeing the numbers
I'd be curious to see this too -- I'd be more curious to see a report on who DD reached out to play the festival and who said no. I wonder how high they shoot with booking.
