That would have sold me on going. Their Cruel World set was incredible and I’m jonesing to see them again. Not finding their new dates, though. Where are you seeing that info?
Any guesses or info on what Gizz is gonna do for the fest? I would assume if it was a 3 hour set that would have been included in the announcement. This article says, "King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will put together an exclusive setlist just for the festival." I would happily accept an all thrash metal set, but not holding my breath on that. consequence.net/2022/06/desert-daze-2022-lineup/

Think this might take the crown from TNAP as my favorite California fest line up this year.
Not quite enough for me to give up a week worth of Kikagaku Moyo shows before, but a tasty line up for sure.
Tame Impala doing all of Lonerism will be something special. I hope they bring back the oscilloscope and auto-progs to really re-create that tour. I saw them 6 times that tour and each show was incredible.

I wish this booking was Department of Eagles performing In Ear Park.
There lol
Oh hell yeah, this is Thursday night before the fest!

Yeah I know, which is making me wonder what they could possibly do that would make the DD set stand out above what they normally do without it being a marathon set.
I think they could give em a couple hours and do something that has an intermission in there with some crazy visuals for 15 mins before they get back to it. That would be interesting to say the least. 3 hours going super late isnt gonna be like the biggest thing to keep people watching the set if theres other stuff happening.
Love Gizz, but would you really want a 3 hour set at festival?
Depends on who it is. Ill take Radiohead for 3 hours. They did 2 1/2 at Roo in 06 and they delivered on the time slot. I saw NIN play for over 3 hours and it was insane. Tool could do 3 hours and nobody would bat an eye.
I could take them for 3 hours too, but 2 hours would be just as cool too.
So I'm starting to feel better now today, so I'll update the top post later this morning after having some bfast.
Also, as a roll call, who plans to camp this year?! Our crew is camping, first time since the Mecca Days. Hopefully our older asses can hang for 4 nights & 3 days!

I'm camping!
I haven't figured out my setup yet, I have camping gear but I'm trying to decide what type of vehicle I'm taking but as of now I'm solo.

I'll be camping. fixed up all the issues with my camper van in time for coachella so it's mostly already ready to go for Daze. not sure what time we'll be getting there but if I had to guess it would be around 5pm. I'll be bringing my full solar setup too, so if you need some juice let me know!
I'll be 48 for this Desert Daze, so if I can do it, you can do it! although, I injured my back pretty bad stepping in a hole at the last DD so I've been utilizing ADA for this year's festivals. it's slowly getting better so hopefully I can get back to mostly normal by the time DD comes around.
glad you're feeling a little better, hang in there!
I'm camping. I need to get the van serviced to see if it will make another trip through the desert, otherwise I'll just tent it. Not sure who I'm going with yet though
I too am old and stepped in a hole last year. If people can't keep up with us they should retire from festivals
My lady and I are camping. Driving my Forester down from Oakland, planning to leave Wed.. Hoping to crash with a friend in Pasadena, Irvine, or Riverside so we can get up to the lake relatively early to set up and get settled in for the weekend.

I just got a foster and am tempted to just bring that and sleep in it

If I was going solo I'd totally do that, there's no way my girl would do the fest like that ha.

Lol I think I'd rather do that than be on the ground. Those things have a decent amount of room back there.
We'll be on an air mattress. I'm hoping to pick up a 10x10 Kodiak tent for Burning Man and DD this year. We should have a nice spacious accommodation this year if we can set up the inside of the tent the way we set everything up under our E-Z Up the last few times we've camped.

My dad has one of these I'm thinking I'm going to take and put a full sized mattress in the back for maximum comfort. Much more comfortable then sleeping in the back of my Fit. Plus I can put a crapload of stuff in there and have a well outfitted campsite. Usually I'm a barebones camper so it'll be nice to have all the accoutrement for once.

Camping! Flying down solo to Ontario on Thursday and renting a car there

Wife and I are also bringing our Forester (lol) and sleeping on an air mattress in the tent, which was quite comfortable last year.
