I can't believe that potentpotables not only said there's a better tailgate than Clemson, but he didn't even mention going. And his team beat a Clemson team that won a national championship. How could you leave that out?
When talking about tailgates I was focused on the SEC ones I have attended. Clemson would probably be first for friendliness/scene, 2nd for food, and the game was better at Clemson Death Valley than LSU Death Valley.
haven't listened to the episode yet, but I hope you mentioned Ole Miss if referencing SEC tailgates

I didn't. I haven't been but have heard it's one of the best. I was boycotting while they had DJ Durkin on staff.

that is certainly understandable. i’d say come join us next year, but i’m graduating in May so am unsure when all i’ll be there.
it’s a great experience though, unlike any other tailgate i’ve been to! even without the Grove, we just tore it up in NOLA this past weekend before the loss lol
I am not a drinker, but I had a $40 bottle of wine on my 31st birthday (at Emeril's) that was the best alcohol I have ever had in my life. Of course I drank the whole bottle and don't remember the name.
A $40 bottle at a restaurant is a $20 bottle retail.
At a place with small margins, maybe. I'd expect a 3:1 markup typically.
The industry standard is to mark up a bottle of wine 200-300% over its retail sales price. Thus, if a high-end wine retails for $20 at a wine retail store, it is likely to sell for $60 to $80 at a restaurant. For rare, expensive or speciality wines, the markups could be as high as 400%.

I was drunk, it was my birthday, my server friend picked it, my ex paid, it could have been $140. I just remember being told it was a really good wine. 🤣😂 It tastes like crisp apples and pears.
I lived in Oxford for a little more than a year, and probably spent like 4 nights a week in that place lol
that’s awesome. any other favorite spots from you time in Oxford?
i’m not looking forward to leaving here in a few months.. gonna try my best to enjoy this last semester.
The Blind Pig has a solid beer selection and great sandwiches, Big Bad Breakfast/Snackbar is great, Sipp and McEwan's if you feel like a nice pricey dinner, Volta has great Mediterranean food, Beacon for more value priced southern fare. And there's always the speakeasy but you have to find it on your own.
Oxford is a great food town but I did 90% of my drinking at the same place because it was relatively devoid of annoying ass frat boys

all very solid choices. my girlfriend and I absolutely love Sipp and Volta. our personal favorite spot is Jinsei, the nice sushi spot just up from the Square.
certainly understand the frat boy issue though lol even I stay out of the way of most of that group
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
