This is the secret Coachella thread for non-idiots.
Realistically, how low do you think they could get away with billing Silk Sonic? I feel like they could be third on their day but maybe that’s totally nuts.

too low and they piss half of the people off, too high and they piss the other half off…
realistically I’d probably slot them as 3rd or so on a day given they haven’t had any major performances this far. however, if they were to start getting booked, i’d absolutely love about an hour and a half set with 1/3 .Paak solo stuff, 1/3 Bruno solo stuff, and the final 1/3 being Silk Sonic

Sub at minimum, Bruno's got the name power to push them there

if billed as "Silk Sonic" then I would say 2nd or 3rd on the second line, but if it's billed as Bruno Mars presents "An Evening with Sil Sonic" then I think it's a headliner.

Ya, I sorta agree but I don’t see Coachella booking something like that as a headliner. Too shtick-y
I dont even like Silk Sonic's album but it sure would look better than SHM at the top either way.
I dunno. SHM is washed and Silk Sonic is a gimmick. I’d rather see a Silk Sonic set but which is worse seems like a matter of preference
I mean it might be a gimmick but people have been hoping for them to headline since they announced it. I don't think anyone was even entertaining the idea that SHM could headline till that Coachella tweet.

Well those people are crazy too. Neither of these acts should be headlining

I just assumed it would get billed as Bruno Mars if they did it.

The move at this point is to get literally anyone other than SHM to headline, they have to know that a Ye - Billie - SHM headline trio looks garbage and even something like Bieber - Ye - Billie looks better

I wonder at this point if they are still purely looking at headliners or also trying to get a couple of Aphex, Chem Bros, Sufjan, The Knife.
At the end of the day, I really dont think that SHM is that offensive to the majority of Coachella's audience as it is on this board, and shoring up the 2nd line would go a lot further.

if the 2020 lineup is anything to go off of the second line is gonna be pretty weak for the niche stuff, might get The Smile and FKA twigs but I wouldn't expect much more than that

I think this is right. In 2019 and 2013, they brought it a bunch of new acts at the 11th hour to compensate for headliner changes. I can’t remember who in 2013 off the top of my head but I know J Balvin was one of the last acts added in 2019

2020 second line was kinda great
it was good for sure but it didn't really have any of the aphex twin or sufjan type stuff

pixies, julian casablancas
the Voidz would be really nice, also Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Phoenix on the second line
Is there any way they can have the Yuma if Coachella doesn't require vax?
Soma at OSL required masks and the indoor club at Bottlerock required masks. the line to get into the club at Bottlerock was too long so I never went in, but I heard masks were enforced pretty strict.

I don't know what the club is like at Bottlerock but I think it would be pretty difficult to enforce masks in the Yuma. Especially if it was crowded.

I think that's just LA and SF. right now California just requires masks for indoor events. I might be wrong though, it seems to change all the time.
