They've played Aenema, Stinkfist, 46 & two, Parabol/a, and Schism every time I've seen them, so dropping all their "biggest hits" for some deeper cuts is definitely a surprise, but a welcome one! I got really into Intolerance leading up to their cancelled 2020 Bonnaroo show, and looking back at past sets, I've already seen it played TWICE! Sober is my white whale. Hoping they bring it back eventually
Is it wrong to hope that they get to play for a much longer timeframe and they actually do it? I love them so much, I don't want to miss any. Also, I have never done pit before, how hard do you think it will be for this?

They’re not going to play any longer than they normally do. It shouldn’t be too hard to pit if you don’t mind missing a couple of shows while you wait.

I guess it will depend on who is before them. Can you roll up in the pit after they start?

sometimes. if the pit is full, it's a one-in, one-out system. usually you can hang out by the pit line during the show and they'll let you in as people leave and you should probably be able to get in, but the sightlines/sound aren't that great from the waiting area
Should I just make a tool playlist of songs they will play or bang out albums ? I’m semi into them , I’ve really only listened to their most recent album but I was into it. Hype for the live show

I’ve already made a playlist for what they’ve played so far and I’ll update that. I’m seeing them in early Mar.

I feel like yall were saying they are missing some hits off of their setlist for this new tour for a couple bust outs. Are there any songs I should add to that playlist that usually get played as well? Thanks just trying to get Roo ready. Pneuma is my fav if there’s but only listened to their last album.

i'm going to take this opportunity to drop this here now that someone else has mentioned pneuma bc everyone bothering to read this thread should watch if they haven't already:
Two consecutive shows with the same setlist. Unreal! Since they're dusting off classics, I'm crossing my fingers for Eulogy for the Phoenix show. 7empest would be nice too but I don't wanna get greedy.

Yeah, after seeing Tool live, I started feeling weird calling myself a drummer, because characterizing myself as the same thing as Danny Carey, musically, just seemed wrong.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

I feel you, having seen Primus 10x and playing bass. Gives us something to aspire to I guess.
As a guy who's never seen Tool I really hope their Bonnaroo setlist is nothing like that 😬
Dont think its gonna matter when the lasers hit. I highly doubt theyll change what theyre doing this leg to something different. Had a friend who went to both of the first 2 shows and opening night was in the 5th row of the floor and people were losing their minds as to what was going down. Then walking out heard people complaining. They couldve not made the choice to even tour or get rebooked onto Roo ya know.
I had stopped considering to get a ticket for a Tool show since 2009 until they released another album because it had been the same setlist for all of 10,000 Days. It took 10 years of waiting for Fear Inoculum to come so I was more than happy to get a ticket in 2019. Now theyre doing this and Im personally ecstatic.

Why? I listened to the playlist yesterday. Those are a lot of their best songs. It’s like they said let’s just play the best song from each album for this tour.

same reason this was a super disappointing setlist for my first Metallica show

Hits vs best songs. I’m going best songs. I was thinking while I was listening, particularly if you’re a big Adam Jones fan, these songs are his best performances.
I should probably go this year, it'd fit the every five years pattern
Pretty impressive for just 2 shows. You got Third Eye and Sweat your first time. Then you got Hooker, Pushit and Ticks & Leeches, which I’ve never seen.
