from a popularity standpoint, has Gizz really grown that much over the past few years?
i don’t remember what the fan base looked like when i started following them back around 2016 but my understanding has always been they’re absolutely loved in a cult following type way, so i haven’t been able to gauge their mainstream growth if that makes sense
They closed the second biggest stage at Coachella this year. I think they've certainly gotten bigger year after year. Relentless touring and constant new material seem to be working their magic.
Now, there is a decent argument to make that, unless they have a pop hit like Portugal The Man, they've reached their popularity peak. They need a crossover single to truly go to the next level.
yeah that makes sense. i’d certainly love to see them continue to grow and reach more people but not at the cost of selling out to some extent (which i don’t think they’re the type to do anyways)

in a selfish way, i’m kind of hoping vampire weekend doesn’t get booked because i’m not looking forward to grappling with how good the set would be while knowing ezra’s a creep. and on a less selfish note, it’d be a better call to not book them just for accountability’s sake

What rap headliners are left for Bonnaroo to book for the first time?
Or are we expecting a repeat from previous years? I'd be thrilled with Kendrick or Post. But I'd love for a lineup similar to 2012 or 2013, those were amazing.

Tyler , Drake, Cudi, or Rocky
Idk if Cudi or Rocky would headline though
Rocky & Cudi headline Rolling Loud anyways, I could see them at 1 or 2 at Roo.
Other RL headliners Roo hasn't booked are 50 Cent & Nicki Minaj. I think if Future or Cardi B come back they're headliners too. Doja's show is HL quality and checks off rap, pop, and r&b boxes.

i by no means am saying he did or didn't do it or that people's thoughts on the subject aren't valid but the allegations come from an article from an alleged ex girlfriend that doesn't call him out by name and people on a reddit post were the people that looked into it the most. i can't find an article from a major publication or blog that mentions it. vw played outside lands last year, are touring this year, and ezra still releases an episode of his apple music show every two weeks. the band is going to get booked if bonnaroo can get them

Actually would be happy with any of those. Do you think Lizzo and Doja Cat would be options too? Maybe even Lauryn Hill?

50 cent would be freaking sick ! I guess you’re right I had Doja in the pop category. I could see Meg headlining one day. I didn’t know if Rolling Loud Headliners would count for Roo. I think Rocky is the weakest headliner out of the ones we’ve listed.

is Muse still a US festival headliner? feels like they had their shot a few years back to break big in the US and it never really happened.
RHCP and Lizzo totally plausible though. i'm not as hype on Lizzo as I was in 2020 but would still be a fun set.
feel like GVF will be a headliner before it's over with. they are positioned well to pop into that contemporary rock headliner slot if rock music becomes that popular again. purely anecdotal based on the young people i interact with at work, but for the youths who never really connected with pop or hip-hop and grew up listening to 60s/70s rock and are now in their 20s, GVF is a big deal to them. basically a band that they can claim as there own that is playing rock music. it just happens to be rock music that sounds, smells, and looks exactly like Led Zeppelin.

Yeah, I have a sister five years younger than me and whenever I talk to her friends, a lot of them realllly realllllly love GVF. I've made comments about the obvious Led Zeppelin inspiration before and that's honestly what they like about it.

outside the US without a doubt. and i see they are headlining the aftershock festival, but do they still headline large multi genre festivals in the US? honestly asking i don't know, there might be a recent example. aftershock is the only upcoming US festival i see on their tour dates so i'm not sure.
