I really think Roo needs to rethink its marketing.
Doing 1 clue a week and then going head hunting for leakers just doesn’t seem like the move.
As a buyer it really doesn’t make sense for me to wait for the Roo lineup if I see another festivals I like whose lineup is already out.
For example electric forest. Anyone who is/was waiting for the Roo lineup to drop and decide between the two is screwed at this point. So as a buyer why put myself in that position when I can just secure a ticket to a lineup I know I like.
Roo should not be concerned with leakers because it’s really the only thing keeping people interested at this point. Instead maybe they should worry more about keeping interested and maybe dropping some more clues or the lineup earlier.
i agree with all of this but they don’t care because it’ll still sell well. kendrick - odesza - ? with tyler childers and a few others already sounds like a good enough lineup for a lot of people so how much more marketing can you do just to sell not that much more tickets and keep your consumer base happy when they still will probably go? when we were young sold out just by putting out the lineup and there was barely any marketing leading up to the festival and it was a still a success other than a day getting cancelled. i miss the BLAMs and consistent roo clues but in the age of live nation bonnaroo none of that matters to the promoters if not doing any of that would sell just as much tickets and cost less money and effort

O Forsure but think if it’s a lineup that sucks. Cause not every year is gonna be an automatic sell out. If they release the lineup earlier they have more time to gage what attendance will be like and could even add bookings if ticket sales were low. They already do 2 lineups now with the campgrounds. They could release the lineup Black Friday when tickets go on sale. Give it 2-3 months of ticket sales and if it’s bad they could try to add an artist or 2 to the main lineup or try to add more to the campground one.
while tame makes sense, i have a hunch we’re getting green day
checks out, the fest is being booked by an American idiot
honestly, seeing the type of dude that’s responsible for booking the fest and just how dogshit his tweets are, as well as him being involved in wwwy definitely made me consider green day as a more tangible option

i won tickets to a green day show once and they were aggressively okay. don’t think i’ve ever seen an artist shout the name of the city they were in more than billie joe armstrong. i think he said “tampa” like 5 times per song
that's 13 time Grammy winning and all time selling all women group The Chicks you damn Yank
i stand corrected, theyre bigger than i thought. point being neither of the acts he mentioned are 2nd names on their day anymore
The Strokes were like the equivalent of 3rd or 4th on their day in 2011 and they’ve done nothing really to warrant them being any higher since then. SZA could be 1 but if they booked her early enough I could see her being a sub headliner.
