Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Fuuuck man seeing that King Gizz set makes me wish so bad I could go. I'm not regretful of coming back to Seoul to marry my soulmate, but damn if Bonnaroo wouldn't have made for the ultimate bachelor party. What's going to top that for next year? Thee Oh Sees? Have they ever played Bonnaroo before?
Don't think the Oh Sees have before. Ty Segall has though and would be equally as rad as, possibly even radder than, both Gizz and OCs.
I’ll post a better review later but as far as the acts I saw, this was one of the best Bonnaroos I’ve attended! I also didn’t personally experience much as far as logistical headaches except one long wait to get into Centeroo. Maybe we were lucky.
That was the last Roo of my 20s and I am for sure feeling it today!
Yeah we had no logistical issues at all. Minus the hand washing stations or hand sanitizer by the portos. Your post about the line Friday saved us from waiting cause we were about to roll out. We left like 45 min later and had no wait. This was my first Roo in my 30s and my back is shot haha.
Overall I had a solid weekend - no issues with people, even amidst all of the shady reports and the sound at the shows I attended was on point. My two biggest complaints are closing the second entrance and how they let us leave after Stevie ( I’m 6’3” and broad shouldered and I almost got knocked down more than once).
Slowthai - musically, I’m not a huge fan but got to meet up with my brother at this set for his 1st Bonnaroo! I will always remember the experience with him and I hope there are many more roo moments with him in the years to come.
Herbie Hancock - true American legend, simply magical
Goose - brought the heat and proceeded to vaporize the whole scene
Superjam - I have only been to like 5 and perhaps I’m overrating because I was born in 84 but this was hands down top 2 sj’s for me, CRJ (hopefully booked for next year or soon) and Britt were highlights
Stevie Nicks - way better than expected, perfect way to close.
Nora en Pure - got chills throughout and was in a state of ethereal ecstasy. Just bummed I couldn’t make it to Chris lake
Tool - it got weird…..then weirder Lane 8 - I gave it everything and this old man made it till 5
Japanese Breakfast - I love Michelle’s stage presence vibe
The Weather Station - 1st set of the weekend for me and it was just amazing to breathe it all in
Disclosure - arrived late due to overnapping but the hour I caught was so fun. Even though many of us disagree…..I thought it was cool that one of the brothers said it was the best festival in America
Chvrches - missed the beginning due to SJ but Lauren was so good Sons of Kemet - only caught a few minutes unfortunately but I could tell I was listening to something special
Arlo Parks - nobody was there but her voice was so relaxing and had just seen war on drugs
Weval - the cancellation was devastating for me, so this is solely a spot for potential
I had a wicked good time. Never waited to get into center roo. Was right off main street inbetween the grove and house of yes. The walk to groop plaza was brutal on weds and thurs but completely worth it for Turnpike Troubadours. Billy Strings melted half my face and then tool melted the other. I was solo but had cool neighbors who took me in. The thin crowds made it nice to pop around in gaps and check out new stuff. I havent been since 2009 so upgrades all seemed good. Im also not really into edm but got sucked in a few times since it fit my mood and the other stage is cool. Tash into the Puscifer pit was also really cool. The major negative was lack of soap but i had sanitizer with me at all times.

what's the head count of people that left tool early to go to 100 gecs? i talked to so many people that either said they did that or were going to. we walked away during invincible so we probably missed a little less than 10 min but made it for gecs. i'm happy with how much i watched of tool i thought i'd feel sacrilege to leave but i think i got my fill

Top sets of the weekend for me:
1. The War on Drugs - There's something special about a perfect show at sunset and this was one of those. Highlight of the weekend for me and will go down as one of my favorite festival shows ever. 2. Lord Huron - I thought they were excellent and had a nice setlist that I really enjoyed. 3. CHVRCHES - Laruen playing Superjam and then literally running over to do her set right after lol. She was great tho, love her. Only complaint is how do you not play "Good Girls"??? That song fking bangs and was looking forward to hearing it. 4. Shannon & the Clams - This was such a cool show. Short set, but every song was great and the live performance was awesome. I would say I'd just like to see them perform on a bigger stage with more people but I think the small crowd intimacy added to how cool it was. 5. All Them Witches - They killed it. Wish a few more songs were played that I like from them, but overall it was really good.
HM: Stevie, Superjam, many others.
New discoveries: Adam Melchor, Michaela Anne, Patrick Droney
Random cool moment: Getting to meet Joy Oladokun as she was casually checking out Patrick Droney at This Tent before her set on Sat. Told us she'd be performing at the Superjam later. She just seems like a really cool person.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Also had 2 goose shows( bonnaroo and goosemas) canceled so seeing them come out with frasco, playing their set and rick at super jam was a bonus for me. Ill try to do a break down of sets I saw after work but every artist seemed really into it.

Peter came out with pigeons too. Goose was all over the place.

Just got the roo survey on my email. Be constructive and concise. Lots of logistical issues that could be fixed just by doing what they used to do. Experience was still great but a ton of changes/cutbacks that seem to make no sense unless it's just about saving money.
And we need that second entrance. I don't want that to be permanent

And we need that second entrance. I don't want that to be permanent
1. Overly hot showers which caused heat exhaustion due to how hot the farm already was. 2. Jamtrack is dumb. Each camping area should have its own jamtrack line. Color-coded just like how Disney and Dollywood does it. 3. Exiting centeroo Sunday was a death trap, one exit, 35k+ people is not cool. 4. On Monday there was only one exit to leave. People were in lines for over 7 hrs trying to go home. 5. Water situation at plaza were also not great. There were no hoses for filling up tubs or shower bags. We had to go to another station or use the small spouts. 6. Ice not in all plazas. We had to travel to buy ice which is again not safe in the heat 7. Women's bathrooms, permanent structures half of the time were broken. The other half were clogged and sinks were clogged as well where you wash your hands. 8. No sanitation stations anywhere. And the portalets didn't have hand wash inside of them. We're still dealing with covid here. 9. ADA carts were impossible to find. We tried to use them several times unsuccessfully. I'm not sure what people with more mobility issues than thejeremy would have done.
Those are off the top of my head.
Edit: 10. No fireworks 11. No temp testing in med tent, delayed response. Threatened to kick ppl out if their emergency was related to drugs. ie, medical tent was horrible and under equipped to handle anything really serious. I had to fill out an accident report for a fucking Band-Aid. Medic tents were a serious joke.

Good Girls is so good it should have been the last song she played. Huge miss not playing it. But yeah a great set overall.
I had a difficult time putting together a Top 10. There was about 14-15 A-list sets or the shows themselves I wanted in there. After the first three it’s pretty arbitrary.
1. Billy Strings – This was blow away. None of my 3 kids even listen to bluegrass, but they all had this set in their Top 3. I had just seen him do a completely different show at Jazz Fest in early May which was damn good but paid tribute to down here a little. His band members are all elite. I get that it’s bluegrass so you’re generally not getting a drummer or percussion because so much of that comes from the bass. He doesn’t have one in his band either, and you don’t even notice it.
2. Sons of Kemet – I was late waiting for someone to go to the VIP bar and had to watch the first 20 or so minutes when I got home last night. This show was incredible. It was a sonic jazz assault where they took like one pause to smile to the crowd after about a half hour. They just kept coming at you. Some people told me they had issues hearing the brass instrument on the opposite side of where they were standing, and I had the same experience in part of it. But it was mixed perfectly for television.
3. Tool – Hard to rate them relative to other stuff since I’ve seen them so many times.
4. Goose – Goose ruled. I thought people kind of oversold them, but they earned my respect now that I’ve finally seen them live. I almost missed this having to babysit someone who was feeling nauseous. It worked out to my advantage because instead of getting their ass all the way back to Groop, they rallied. Goose came out with Andy Frasco on Thursday and had member parts in the superjam and then with Pigeons Playing Ping Pong.
5. Pigeons Playing Ping Pong – Went until 4:01am. I was sipping on my last couple of ounces of water for an hour since nothing was open close by to drink and the bars were long since shut down. Pigeons live is always fun, and the crowd was great.
6. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard – Second and favorite time seeing them. Crowd was wild, show rocked.
7. Herbie Hancock – This is probably underrated musically, but it was a perfect Sunday evening show. I was on the side behind him, but I swore he had a fucking grand or baby grand piano up there. Band was super competent as you’d expect.
8. Stevie Nicks – I was impressed by the band and Waddy Watchel in particular. Her touring band is a who’s who as we delved into back in February or March. So many good songs, so many good moments. The thing that blew me away was that part of the song where she turned into a spirit and they were freeze-framing her bending over wrapped in feathers. I’m not sure if it was Soldier’s Angel or what, but that was crazy. Witchery.
9. Denzel Curry – I split Goose in the middle to go over to Denzel. He always rules and did again. No regrets except I had to see Goose in two parts.
10. The Chicks – This was a pass-by set for me that I stayed start to finish. The imagery was great – naming names of black police victims and shit. Taking on gun bullshit. A great cover of Landslide. Giving fucks where they should and none when they didn’t have to.
HM (no order):
Cory Henry – I didn’t have anything else Saturday until late afternoon, so he was the only reason I went in early. Great show, fun-appreciative crowd and great music. Cory will probably still be a star 50 years after I’m dead.
CHVRCHES – They could have gone anywhere on my list from #2-HM. I had a ball, but they only gave them an hour at sunset, and I didn’t get to curate the setlist. This show had the most sing alongs for me (see below). Crowd mostly sucked the first 25 minutes.
Marc Rebillet – Crowd was great and all wanted to be there. Marc was clowning and received a cockasaurus rex from some chick near the front. I know some people don’t get it, but the beats were grooving and it was, as always, part comedy show. We all had a ball at Marc.
Slowthai – This was hard and fun. It didn’t completely blow me away like it did some people, but it’s still high up there.
$B – I had an hour to kill before Tool, so I walked over to watch that for about a half hour. I temporarily walked over to see a few minutes of Said the Sky but decided to go back past Which to get back to What for Tool. Crowd was maybe the wildest I saw all weekend.
Arlo Parks – I mentioned it before, but I think shuck was the one to put me onto her when one of the cancelled Buku lineups came out. Her band was great – super jazzy. Her voice is ethereal and dreamy, and although the music is generally a little faster than what Sade does, I was definitely hearing some heavy Sade influence.
Puscifer - I have no idea how this album’s story goes but there was me and zac rocking. The good:
Crowd – It was a fairly young party crowd, but everyone was pretty chill except in the sets where chill wasn’t on the menu. I didn’t see many people acting like assholes or being pricks, and no one pushed me out of the way anywhere to get by. Fuck the dumb redneck with the Brandon flag, but I just sneered at his and his old lady’s dumb asses. Yeah, you have the right to be a loud rightwinger. But save that shit for some country jam where you might get a free Miller Lot Bear from some other stupid fucking redneck. You’re not going to ruin my day but still, fuck you and Brandon.
Comradery – Between my 3 kids, the 25ish posse we had at Groop and all you wonderful Inforoo people I was able to say hey to, hang or party with, and even some other people I knew that I didn’t know were going, there was a lot of love.
Fun – I had it.
Food – I actually didn’t eat all that much this year. I think it’s due to the amount of water I was drinking which was basically one for one with cans of beer. However, both of my Hattie B’s chicken sandwiches were good. I ran into Jortles and his old lady I think on Friday, and he was on his 3rd one. They told me where the stand was, so I went and got me one (then another on Sunday). I also had a few bites of other stuff along the way. Tica’s was doing good burgers this time. My daughter gave me a couple bites of one with guacamole, fresh jalapenos and pepperjack on brioche that hit the spot.
Bad:
Lines to get in during peak hours. Once you got through all those rows, if you didn’t have a bag and peeled off all the way to the right, there were two no bag lines. It was just getting to that part that sucked.
Misplaced Bathrooms – There were a lot more spots that should have had bathrooms. The no line ones up in the corner all the way on the left side of What are clutch. That bar is almost never hit either, so if you can make it all the way to that side of What, you can go there. Otherwise, it seems like you have to walk really far to find them sometimes.
Prices – Damn, I don’t even want to look at my credit card bill. I brought $400 cash which was gone by Day 3. Ice at $8.00 for a smaller sized bag. Shit we had two ice chests that we were having to change ice at least twice a day. Beer was high. Water was high. Premixed cocktails were ridiculous. Most of my trips to the bar consisted of a can of sparkling Liquid Death and either All Day Vacay or Two Lane. Tax and tip brought each of those trips to around $20. Imagine ten of those in a day plus randomly hooking up others. The fallout is not going to be pretty.
Distance from Groop to the entrance and the entrance in general sucked. We had maybe a 15 minute walk, so it’s not like it’s the end of the world. But why tf you going to put Groop out in the boondock campgrounds with this year’s setup? It made no sense.
Ugly:
Bathrooms – RooBus said it before, but the bathrooms in Plaza 5 had intermittent flushing issues. I don’t want to take a shit in a flushable that isn’t flushed. I don’t even want to take a piss in that. Yuck. They were infrequently serviced and spaced a bit far out in the plazas. Some morning walks I had to play mind over matter I had to piss so bad and had a few blocks to walk instead of a few steps.
Lack of sanitary/washing stations. Some portos had hand sanitizer, but most didn’t. There wasn’t the usual communal water pump stations for hand washing or sanitizing except in the permanent areas and a couple of the camp plaza areas. WTF? We’re still in a pandemic that’s killed a million people in America. And fucking Monkey Pox is going around. This was the worst I’ve ever seen and even worse than pre-pandemic times when it seemed you could at least find some soap and water.
My friends’ dad – Come on man. You’re my age. Don’t be so skullfucked that you’re a nuisance. MFer passed out around Tierra Whack and then saw me at Stevie and wouldn’t shut up about how she was a hologram. I had to walk away to find another spot to enjoy the show. I don’t mind exchanging a few words during a show, but don’t be babbling and shit.
My asscrack – I drove late night Tuesday to Florida and then the 8 ½ or so hours through the gates on Wednesday. Some kind of way I had a chapped ass that was getting worse in the heat. Luckily I had some aquaphor in my travel bag and was able to get everything right by Friday. With as hot as things were, that could have fucked shit up for me. It’s not something I ever remember getting from driving, so I’m guessing it must have been the back seams in the pants I was wearing.
Lost: 2 pairs of cheap sunglasses
Favorite Singalongs – Black Sabbath War Pigs (intro to All Them Witches); Clearest Blue, Leave a Trace, Never Say Die (Chvrches), Rock and Roll, Stop Draggin My Hear Around, Gypsy, Free Fallin’, Landslide (Stevie), Misty Mountain Hop, When the Levee Breaks (Plant & Krauss)
Definitely one of my most favorite Bonnaroo’s in spite of Bonnaroo trying to fuck me over on a couple of things. The massive amount of music that appealed to me set this one apart from a lot of festivals. I had some pretty major gaps, but despite that, I saw at least 20 sets that were noteworthy. Welcome mat is always out to anyone on the forum if you’re in or want to come to New Orleans.

Also your boy has a couple of cameos at A Hundred Drums on the Hulu stream. I think 22:24 in you begin to see my face (instead of just back of head) with a blue baseball cap right along the rail by my daughter. haha

Who was the very first singer? It was either a very short person or a young kid. I honestly had no idea if Jack said it was someone's kid or who it was. After singing the first song, the individual played guitar or bass after that.

i was almost front row for sons of kemet and some guy kept ripping a camelbak water bottle bong over and over again over the rail and toward the stage to the point where the whole band was enveloped in a cloud of weed smoke at one point. they were smiling really big when they weren't playing their instruments after that and i'm pretty sure that was why

Who was the very first singer? It was either a very short person or a young kid. I honestly had no idea if Jack said it was someone's kid or who it was. After singing the first song, the individual played guitar or bass after that.

Alright gonna do a top 10 but I just wanted to say this was a great way for Bonnaroo to come back. I think if there were more than 50k people there I would have been overwhelmed. The crowd size definitely allowed me to see more split shows without spending 20 minutes walking between sets. Those sardine walks of years past give me big time anxiety. Saw 23 sets which is second most for me at Bonnaroo (saw 29 in 2014). That's really impressive for me considering the heat. The only band I saw during peak heat was Benee but we were under that Which Tree shade.
Had really good neighbors who were fun but also not over the top. It's so great having a mix of rookies, people like us with 5-7 roos, and the 10+ year vets around you.
I definitely had a better time than 2019 and most of the structural changes improved my experience. I think the second entrance thing is the most obvious fix for next year but I just had so much fun the rest of the weekend. It really lived up to my expectations. I've been lineup dependent since 2016 so I hope the lineups continue to fit my tastes. 6 Bonnaroos later and I still feel like I'm gaining positive energy each year I go.
Alright Top 10 1. King Gizz 2. Marc Rebillet 3. Bleachers 4. CHVRCHES 5. Stevie Nicks 6. Slowthai 7. Blu DeTiger 8. Tool 9. Still Woozy 10. 100 gecs
Also your boy has a couple of cameos at A Hundred Drums on the Hulu stream. I think 22:24 in you begin to see my face (instead of just back of head) with a blue baseball cap right along the rail by my daughter. haha
i see you!!!! haha. dark blue shirt too it looks like. i was so afraid of the hulu cam all weekend because my fiancé's dad said he was watching the streams
It was an interesting Roo; rougher than usual tbh between the heat and a few other things but overall it was still a good time and it made me so happy to see so many of you.
Wed: Getting in was a breeze. Arrived at 12ish (I think?) and basically pulled right up and went in. I hope this becomes something we can rely on for future Roos.
VNSSA in Where in the Woods was great and I really enjoyed having shows on Wednesday. Really helped with getting in the festival spirit earlier in the weekend and the stage production was awesome.
Thursday: Had a heat-related incident with an incredibly disappointing response by Roo's medical team:
Weval canceling was a bummer but made it in for Sons of Kemet and Andy Frasco. SoK was AMAZING and Andy Frasco was pretty great too - loved seeing Goose pop in for a couple songs.
Friday: BRUNCH! And rain! Japanese Breakfast was pretty good. I went back to camp during War on Drugs to get some stuff for late night, which was awesome. Disclosure was full of bops - maybe it was just the environment but I felt that their set was better than at Coachella even though the setlist was pretty much the same as far as I could tell. This year was also the first time I actually spent time at the Other since they turned it into a stage and WOW the production there is amazing.
After Disclosure I did a couple song of Goose but was really feeling like dancing so we went to LP Giobbi who put on the best set of the weekend for me. She's up there with Fred Again and Goose as my favorite artists to discover over the past couple years. Give me some syncopated piano over four-on-the-floor drums and I am a happy motherfucker. Afterwards I finished out Goose and caught Lane 8 until 5:30 or so - I ended up enjoying his set far more than I thought I would. Initially I thought he'd be too chill for me but after the energy expenditure of LP it was perfect. Probably the longest I've ever stayed in Centeroo and quite possibly also the most dancing I've done at Roo in a day.
Saturday: I enjoyed the Superjam, though I'm sad I was peeing during When Doves Cry. The rest of the day was pretty much a total scratch due to a combination of headspace, exhaustion from the previous day, and the cold. Caught a couple songs of Tool and Porter and thought both were kinda boring. Gecs was fun though - wish I had stayed longer. Nora En Pure had major sound issues to start - music was only coming through her monitors and not the stage speakers for like the first twenty minutes so I left and came back and she was objectively killing it, but by then I was in Low Vibes Town and body temperature regulation was making me anxious so I willed myself through the rest of her set and left a few songs into Chris Lake. Probably the most disappointing day of Bonnaroo I've had but I knew from the lineup that Saturday wasn't the day for me and was why I went so hard Friday night. It happens.
Edit: I also really enjoyed Billy Strings but also keep forgetting I saw him. Edit: Same with Still Woozy. Edit: And Indigo de Souza, damn lol
Sunday: Tierra Whack was great; Herbie Hancock was a slow burn with a bright finish that I very much enjoyed, and Stevie surpassed my expectations. Finishing the night with two legends back-to-back was awesome.
Sets, ranked (*partial set): 1. LP Giobbi* 2. Sons of Kemet 3. Lane 8 4. 100 gecs* 5. Herbie Hancock 6. Stevie Nicks 7. Disclosure 8. Superjam 9. Goose* (would have been higher if I didn't leave for LP Giobbi but that was 100% the right move and I regret nothing) 10. Billy Strings 11. Andy Frasco and the UN 12. VNSSA 13. Still Woozy 14. Japanese Breakfast 15. Tool* 16. Porter Robinson*
Nora en Pure, Chris Lake*, War on Drugs*, Sparkle City Disco* I don't really want to rank because I either didn't see enough of them or I know my opinions on their sets are more about me than them.
I'm really glad I did this recap though; though it was still a light year it reminded me that I saw more music than I thought I did and enjoyed more shows than I thought I did.
Really though the best part was hanging with my people for the weekend. It's interesting for me to look back and see how my relationship to Roo has changed: my first Roo in 2012 was a solo one where I tried to see as many shows and smoke as much weed as possible, and now I see the music as nearly secondary to the community and I took maybe three hits all weekend (it tends to make me antisocial and I'd rather enjoy people's company when I only see them a time or two a year). It's a welcome change.

considering my first introduction to you was after you were dancing like a motherfucker at Sons of Kemet, i immediately knew you were cool as hell lmao
that was honestly the most fun dancing i saw all weekend. absolutely cutting up a rug
I went Solo as well and had the best freakin time.
