I want someone to tell me how The Chicks and J Cole's crowd compared
Undoubtedly The Chicks was the sing-a-long show of the weekend and I couldn’t have enjoyed it less. But I’ve hated their music since I first heard it. When the wife wants to go you just shut up and try to make the best of it.
My wife and I also must’ve been at another Superjam ‘cause we both walked away rather “meh” on it. Some strong moments fer sure: CRJ was on point, Japanese Breakfast was great, and the song selections were pretty on the nose. But overall it was so weak! Openin’ with “Jump” should’ve been a great start, but that kid had no energy to sing that song. Totally took the wind outta my sails after a 45 minute late start. Fer as much shit as the ‘80s SJ a few years back got, I’m just surprised that this was the same thing but now it’s cool? And the arrangement fer “When Doves Cry” was great, and Blu DeTiger can sing well…just apparently not that song. Just really felt like a karaoke show.
Saw 20 minutes of Tool ‘cause I was that bored, then stayed bored so I made my way to King Gizz who were great! Only managed a few minutes of Goose ‘cause I was just exhausted. Same deal with Marc Rebillet. Stevie was the only HLer I saw, and she was just fine. The Shannon and The Clams ser in Plaza 7 was a blast! No fireworks at the very end showed how much they really cut the budget.
Everyone’s already touched on the dumbest shit they did: one CenteROO entrance, only one way out after Stevie, only one way off the damn farmland Monday mornin’, lack of ice, etc.
All said and done, the weekend was a blast all thanks to my InfoRoo friends! They’ve got a lot of shit to fix if I’m to come back again though.

To be fair re: Superjam, I am an incredibly easy mark.
I didn’t hate it. Again, I just find it strange that a few years back the ‘80s SJ was very much like this one. Not really changin’ song arrangements, just kinda karaoke/sing-a-long. Nothin’ wrong with it, and I had a just fine time at the ‘80s SJ. But that ‘80s one I recall gettin’ a lot of flak.
If it had started closer to on time it could have been a bit of a different story as well. Cokes and I both agree they prolly cut at least three songs due to time. And I think the Madonna songs would have been a little nicer more mid-set; you just don’t do Madonna that early. But again, timin’.
And I’ll be as negative as I please since I spent the money to be there. Don’t wanna hear it, ignore/block me. No skin off my back.

I hope what I said didn’t come off as critical of you! I was being sincere - I am very easy to please in those sorts of circumstances.
30 charges from Bonnaroo resulting in a total of roughly 510.00 for beer water a hamburger and two chicken sandwiches. I hope more shit doesn’t come barreling through tomorrow and Saturdayor I will be one broke ass motherfucker.

I had a really fun time at Superjam. I'd prefer multiple superjams again for different variety and definitely would prefer a more jammy or rock-filled Superjam but happy with seeing unique sets with tons of guests.
So, did they not enforce the clear bag thing at all? I kept seeing people with regular backpacks full of beer and wine and all sorts of stuff, and I didn't even bring any sort of non-clear bag figuring they wouldn't allow me in without a clear one.

enforcement kinda just comes down to each individual security person, personally I don't like to risk having to either bring it back to camp or get back in the line and hope the next security person won't care
I brought my backpack / camel back and no one made me take anything out of my bag. Traditionally they make me take out all my clothes and stuff / check my bladder in my camel back but no one did that this year. I shoulda snuck liquor in but I’m not a huge drinker. One time I went in they didn’t even ask me to take my bag off my back I just strolled on through. Metal detector went off and everything lol

i think the consensus has been that security did not care at all whatsoever this year and as cool as that sounds it also led to problems. mainly the sexual harassment thing and medical response times

competent security that understands the fans in attendance is crucial to any live music event. being able to identify what is an actual threat to safety and what is just tomfoolery. historically i think bonnaroo security has been quite good, disappointing to hear about the issues this year. hope everyone finds a way to concisely and soberly communicate the issues with security in their surveys.

They didn't do fireworks in 2019 either, I thought that was weird.
