Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I didn’t hate it. Again, I just find it strange that a few years back the ‘80s SJ was very much like this one. Not really changin’ song arrangements, just kinda karaoke/sing-a-long. Nothin’ wrong with it, and I had a just fine time at the ‘80s SJ. But that ‘80s one I recall gettin’ a lot of flak.
If it had started closer to on time it could have been a bit of a different story as well. Cokes and I both agree they prolly cut at least three songs due to time. And I think the Madonna songs would have been a little nicer more mid-set; you just don’t do Madonna that early. But again, timin’.
And I’ll be as negative as I please since I spent the money to be there. Don’t wanna hear it, ignore/block me. No skin off my back.
I hope what I said didn’t come off as critical of you! I was being sincere - I am very easy to please in those sorts of circumstances.
Not directed at you at all! You’re super cool and I’m glad we’re friends after this weekend!
Mostly directed at piggy pablo, but really just puttin’ my two cents out there.

Anyone else having trouble telling people at work who you saw? Answering someone who just lives in the normal business world is a struggle. I'm trying to work up the courage to put some bass in my voice when I respond with "Stevie Nicks, Disclosure... remember they did Latch back in the day? and you may not know this but they actually did Talk with Khalid last year... no they didn't play that one though, ummm also Tool. Oh ok yeah they are a 90s rock band that has like a cult following. Oh wait Flume!!!! Flume I saw Flume!!!!"

I've literally just been telling people King Gizz and then talking about them for ten minutes straight

I'm just gonna start saying Nothing and hope they get it.

I just push my hipster glasses up my nose and say, "Oh, bands like King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Goose, Sons of Kemet...you've probably never heard of them before" and then mentally high five myself for how cool and cutting edge I am compared to the normies.

My hopefully quick recap:
Almost every single set I saw exceeded my expectations. The only set I wandered out of because I didn't care for it was Flume, and I think it's mostly because I've seen him at Bonnaroo twice, and being there right after Tool I was like, wow, idgaf about this at all right now. Plus the sound was not very good, probably also at least partially to my just having left Tool.
I regret not being able to make it to either of The Other sunrise sets due to being too tired and/or too cold. I really don't know how some of y'all can go into Centeroo so early and stay in so late. I usually have to pick one or the other lol, even if I'm tripping or whatever. Lane 8 sounded cool from camp though, and I heard What Have You Done To Me? (my fav from them) as I dozed asleep which was really nice.
Quick daily recap-
Thur: Top 3 sets - Indigo De Souza, Goth Babe, & Andy Frasco
Weval cancelling was a huge bummer as they were the act I was most looking forward to that day. Maybe they can come next year for some redemption. Indigo was great though, Sons of Kemet definitely did their thang too but Goth Babe & Andy Frasco were soooo much fun. Goth Babe in particular was better than I expected. Andy bringing out Goose was super dope and closing with the Rage cover was fun as hell, first mosh pit I've been since I was a teenager.
Fri: Top 3 sets - King Gizzard, The Chicks, & Goose
It was nice to finally get this late night Gizz set. I sat under a tree to watch their 2015 show back at my first Bonnaroo and have been hoping for this set ever since then! The Chicks & Goose both really blew me away and I think much has already been said about those sets.
Sat: Top 3 sets - Tool, Billy Strings, CHVRCHES
I posted my Saturday review after it happened already, but these shows were my favorites on Saturday. Billy Strings in particular has been heavy in rotation since Bonnaroo ended. As someone who used to shrug off most country-inspired music I'm learning over the years at Roo there actually are a lot of artists in that realm that make lovely music and I should be more open minded about it.
Sun: Top 3 sets - Stevie Nicks, Tierra Whack, The Aces
Stevie was excellent as has been mentioned. I thought the setlist was pretty excellent but I also like a lot of her solo music just as much as some Fleetwood Mac songs. This may have beaten Bon Iver in my favorite sets of all time position. Haven't seen much about Tierra, but she was sooo fun. Her DJ got everyone hype before the set which was pretty needed being at 5:45pm on Sunday. After a few bangers Tierra rocked her show really hard and I heard everything I wanted! The Aces were also really fun and they're this high because of how nice of a surprise add it was for me. I was in the pit and they put on a great show to a small crowd. HM to Herbie and what I saw of Tinashe on Sunday though, also really great.
This was the Bonnaroo I've done with the fewest people (2 others) and it was really nice in some ways but I did miss a lot of our other friends and hope we can get our numbers back up next year

I always pick one artist and stick with that. I chose Stevie Nicks this year and and people were very excited for me. If I mentioned Tool they would have given me some superficial "cool!"

Well that was an interesting Bonnaroo! My first was in 2011 and I believe I missed one other Roo around 2017ish. I was super glad to be back on the farm but it turned out to be one of the more difficult ones.
Positives:
-Inforoo and Groop folks - I fucking love y'all so much and all of you really are the best part of the festival for me.
-Kicking off Roo with VNSSA's set at Where in the Woods. I'm a huge fan already and hearing her music include house, techno, breaks, disco, funk, bass, and then that sick remix with jungle/drum and bass. I was in love.
-I have been a fan of The Chicks since the early 2000s, as they were the first band my age that both expressed bluegrass/country roots without all of the backwards thinking that some of the more popular acts of the time had.
-Andy Frasco was so much fun and I had no idea what to expect. A young guy was hyping us up on our way in and described them as "Saint Paul and the Broken Bones on cocaine".
-LP Giobbi was a great set - loved the visuals, music, and dancing.
-Lane 8 was one of my most anticipated set and I danced harder than I have in the longest time. The energy was amazing and I really felt like we were taken on a beautiful journey. We danced until the sun came up <3
-Billy Strings set was just what I thought it would be and I'm always in awe of what a genius he is. I would love to see cloggers join him on stage.
-Nora En Pure's set was also a favorite
-Stevie Nicks was a dream to see live. My Mom loved Stevie and Fleetwood Mac so that was extra special and I felt like she put on an amazing performance.
-By Sunday I was pretty over EDM so I missed a few sets I would have normally seen and instead opted to see Tash Sultana and Puscifer. I suppose I expected Pucifer to be like Tool but I was surprised at how theatrical it was.
-Herbie Hancock and Goose were two acts I only went to because the rest of the groop was going and I'm super glad I did. Seeing Goose sit in with lots of other acts during the festival was a treat.
-PPPP put on a hell of a show. We went down for the last couple songs (Holy hell the wooks) but watched most from way back in the field.
-THOSE FUCKING FANS IN THE TENTS! <3
Negatives:
-#1 was the heat and the lack of preparation by Bonnaroo. Several of you know already but on Thursday morning I was feeling over heated. I had two mimosas earlier in the day (like 5 hours before) but switched to water pretty soon after. I felt dizzy and nauseous despite sitting in front of a fan so I decided to cool off by taking a shower. A couple of the Groop fellas and I went to the showers where a woman and her little girl were complaining at how hot they were. The showers were indeed hotter than I can describe and I'm one of those ladies who takes scalding showers. I quickly got the soap off of me and booked it back to camp for fear of fainting away from home. A couple minutes sitting back in front of the fan and I called for help. My campmates were so quick to act and find a security person who happened to have EMT training. He did everything right. I remember him telling me how fucked up it was that the medics were not there. I didn't have a good grasp on time or remember everything said because I was in and out of it but I am sure I would have at least ended up in the hospital if not for him and my campmates. Jaz has a more detailed account of it on twitter but as a nurse I cannot say how fucked up that situation was. That whole disaster really shook me and I felt like a kicked puppy for the rest of the fest. Physically I felt fine but I didn't I was a lot more reserved and cautious because I didn't feel like I would be cared for if something went wrong.
-I miss the signage at the stages.
-The walk was far too long for Groop especially with all the dust which would have been helped by the second entrance opened.
-Lack of shade at The Other and really in most of centeroo. They need to get creative with art structures that offer shade.
-The Other tent playing at the same time as the surprise Japanese Breakfast show. An hour of waiting and we ended up going to see Westend since that's all we could hear anyway.
-No ice in Groop
I'm glad I went, the FOMO would have been too much. I'm quarantined now though, with COVID (finally got it), and I'm missing the regional burn that I've been prepping for for most of the year so I'm really sad about that. I'm not sure if I'll be back though. It is hard to let loose, which is what I like about Roo, when you don't feel safe. Thanks to everyone who cared for me and checked on me, as gross as it makes me feel to be taken care of instead of caring for others.
^^ super cool meeting you, and I’m glad you recovered. I couldn’t figure out wtf was wrong with me Thursday (besides crack issues) either. I didn’t go for attention, but I was feeling off all day guzzling water in that heat but still in the shade. I was sweating so I knew I was hydrated but I guess maybe not enough to kill the headache. I think I took one Aleve around 4 and everything subsided in time to go in. I felt pretty good the rest of the weekend other than shaking off the previous days buzz with only a couple hours of sleep. Love that you mentioned PPPP. I think that was #5 for me (rank and times seen) and I had a blast outside of not having shit to drink late. Tents as well. Props to This (which had its fair share of sound issues) and That. I’ll have to go back and look at some point but I feel like that’s were I spent most of my hours.
Smoking joints during Herbie with y'all will be a forever memory.
I have a pic of you smoking three at once hahaha
I heard about this legendary act. The trifecta.
@gno and I had a fun time at Lettuce after we moved up from the usual Inforoo meet-up spot. Once we got towards the middle of the crowd there were folks just walking around handing out J's (which we also added to) and then saw to the side of us that someone was lighting up and smoking a master blunt that was HUGE. I believe Deto has a photo of it that we'll see eventually. But yeah....Lettuce crowd was going green pretty heavily during the set.

oh damn.. sad that I missed Lettuce.
It was a great little set. I do think They'd kill it with a 2-3 hour late night set featuring a bunch of guests. They've backed the hip hop superjam and done other similar type of things so hopefully they get another big slot in the future. This daytime set was pretty great, though. Lot of influence from hip hop and funk.

I wasn't even there but King Gizz > Disclosure. I got bored at one of my fav digital acts and should have pushed myself like the old days. edit: also my only real regret this weekend with everything (heat, lost wallet, etc.)

my biggest regret of the weekend was waiting until Saturday to hit you up for real

How long did you end up being without a wallet? Like 2 full days?

1.5. Lost Saturday recovered Sunday. I still feel like an ass because someone was supposed to ADA with me and I had to just tell them to go. ALWAYS breaks your money into a second wallet. i slipped on my on shit and I'm just glad the person wasn't a complete dick (or whoever found a wallet)
