It does a good job articulating why the coachella lineup is so good with a decent amount of comparison to bonnaroo
1) Yay, they called out Kanye.
2) The size thing is, I think, a key factor here. Coach has *70* more acts on the bill. They’d had to try hard for the lineup not to appear a lot more robust.

Almost all the way through listening to every act I’d never heard of, as I have every year since 2009. It’s blowing my mind how everything I haven’t heard seems to sound soooooo clean, crisp and un-interesting . It’s like all these smaller pop and indie pop acts try too hard to sound perfect that they suck the life out of it. Surprisingly boring music from a lot of these acts. It reminds me of 2017. The only other year I listened to everyone and found no one new to me that I liked and damn near everything I hadn’t heard was uninteresting pop or dance. Damn near no grit to be found anywhere.

this is a valid complaint
For booking tool as a headliner, and having deftones, incubus, flogging Molly, Primus, and uncle acid last year, there is a surprising lack of any edge in the undercard.
Sorry there’s not enough white guys with guitars for y’all
Are there some POC with guitars I’m missing? I just like guitars.
Yeah, it's kind of a shitty argument. Much of the great guitar-driven indie rock out there right now is being made by women, many of whom would've been a great addition to the bill. There are also artists like Yves Tumor, Bartees Strange, and Young Fathers making great music with guitars in it right now. Hell, one of the artists folks were excited about last year was Mdou Moctar, because Taureg guitar rock kicks ass.

i never thought i'd see the day that pitchfork turns heel against kanye
Fair enough! I was strawman-ing and being pedantic because of the mostly white acts you mentioned, I’m sorry if I offended.
I had been calling for Animals as Leaders for months. Everyone knows Tosin Abasi is the most elite up and coming guitarist in the world. Then again, he’s like 38 now. How time flies...
I’d throw it up for Dallas’ Tim Henson of Polyphia who I think is part Asian but I could be wrong. Just looked it up, his mom is Chinese
Yeah. That’s cool as shit. 5 octaves for the strings where I think (?) most guitars are 4. Then half steps are on the piano element. That’s some insane shit, but more power to those who can play stuff most people never heard of. Haha. Speaking of 5 octaves, shout out to the greatest female singer in art rock, the goddess Annie Haslam.
Do we think they had no plans for the Opry Thursday night this year, or did they drop it last minute after the Morgan Wallen appearance last weekend?
I feel like it’s run it’s course, the response was mixed and I imagine it’s not cheap
I very much enjoyed it in 2018, when it was Sunday evening. We caught the beginning of the show before heading to Alt-J, and it was packed. It seemed much less packed, interesting in 2019. I think you’re right; it ran its course.
Check out this lineup reaction I did with Rummy 500 and Jake Jortles! It was my first time seeing it. We were not crazy about the lineup, but I think we still hit a lot of the plusses from our perspective.
