There’s no way this thing gets cancelled right? Saw on another forum that a poster mentioned they still haven’t even sold 40k tickets (also mentioned Lolla was underselling as well).
0% chance it gets cancelled. And radio silent??? What you talking about? Sure the social media posts haven’t been great but it’s not like they’ve stopped posting. Anyone who thinks is this will be cancelled has no clue what they’re talking about. Tickets sales across the board on festivals are low, inflation is through the roof. It just might be one of those years where less show in attendance but there is absolutely no chance it gets cancelled I promise you. Also there is definitely no “post” out there saying how many tickets Roo has sold.
Coachella, Glasto, Forest, and Ultra all had/have sold out lineups. It seems the LN fests are just a big shit sandwich right now.
I don't remember that being the number...is that accurate? I mean it was heavenly I remember how thin the crowd was, and the weird pushed in layout.
I remember being at some tent shows and being embarrassed by how few people were there. There were plenty of tent shows where the crowd never even reached the soundboard.

Incorrect again. Forest is still selling tickets, you can’t even try to return them on the exchange because so many people have already. I know cause unfortunately I am stuck with a forest ticket. Same went for Coachella. I had to sell it third party cause Lyte had already received so many returns.

Send me a PM if you don’t want that Forest ticket. I’ve been on the exchange for 2months and nothing so far.

bonnaroo has ran into bad luck and doesn't have as much power to be the blockbuster festival they were on years like 2010-2014. they've been off for two years, have an ok lineup and have to compete with bourbon and beyond, louder than life, shaky knees, beale street, hangout, and other smaller southern festivals. i really doubt it will be cancelled and i was optimistic that a lot of people would want to go this year but there's only so much the festival can to do bring people back since covid broke out

this is so doomer. They had their best two selling years in 20 and 21. Even better than 2013-14. They put out a bad lineup this year and are going to pay for it with lower attendance . Just need to hope they shape up next year.
Last year was a bad, bad hit to PR. Tons of people got burned after spending tons of money only to turn around when they were almost there. It's not like it really could have been helped, but you can't blame people for having a bad taste for Bonnaroo after that and not being in a rush to go back.

Idk I think people just didn't buy tickets because the lineup is bad.

This is a purely subjective take on your taste of music. Because there are others who love the lineup.

Agreed that this is the biggest reason for low attendance. It's not like this lineup is particularly bad. It's not going to be the same as the 2013 lineup because we're a whole decade of music later. So I think if there is a big 2nd reason, it's that there's a lot of specialty fests these days that weren't as prominent before. Roddy Rich isn't a bad booking, but hip hop heads aren't buying a roo ticket this year because they can go to a hip hop festival, etc.

I don't think it has to be either or... I would also add a level of will it actually happen.
The lineup isn't terrible. It's a solid midcard with a lot of names that many other festivals don't have, and Stevie is perhaps the best legacy headliner they've had since Elton John.
But really, they needed to knock it out of the park to sell tickets after the covid hiatus. They would have done that in 2021, and they didn't do that this year. I'm obviously one of the people who think that everything else going on manages to still put Roo over the top, but there's now a ton of people who have never experienced that and won't be sold on that.

Don't forget 2019 sold out.
i forgot and the hardest part is the 2020 lineup was even better and they were on the right track of booking great lineups that still had the bonnaroo spirit. some people in my group complained about the 2019 lineup but i was really happy. solange, lonely island, kacey musgraves and even cardi b were some of my favorites

I listen to 90% EDM and that was way solid and it just so happened there were a lot of artists I was excited to see outside of the EDM genre in 2019. Taste and what makes a good lineup is so dang subjective.
Lineups better than Lola and every other major US festival to me besides Coachella. Firefly would be 3rd but I think it’s a weak year for lineups in general depending on what ACL does. No way it’s getting canceled, also they’ve been posting like once to twice a week granted it’s promo/high five Friday crap but they are active. I like this lineup but I’m 31 year old white dude. Idk if the kids really want to go to this. Besides Mgk who’s an artists youngings are dying to see. It’s been three years the 18-21 demo hasn’t been able to go at all or went once or twice tops. I bet less of the kids have tickets due to the lineup. Do they even like J Cole I know the people I know from 24-28 think he’s awesome. Just seems like a weird year but I’m down for it. Haters can hate but ima see plenty of great sets for what I paid. Like 150 bucks less than that trash Outside lands lineup.
How would you even know this? Lol like cmon…. Sure you don’t like the lineup but that doesn’t speak for the entire world.
Because the lineup is clearly doing a bad job of selling tickets.
I don't think they needed to knock it out of the park or do anything but put out a good lineup. I think if they put out a lineup people wanted to go to, people would buy tickets to that lineup. Simplest explanation.

So the pandemic years along with the highest inflation rate in 40 years has nothing to do with it? People are struggling to buy groceries right now. Festivals are probably one of the last things people have on there list to purchase

I'd guess even for people not struggling to that level are attending fewer festivals, I usually do 2-3 a year but this year I could only swing 1.
I don't think people are completely cutting out festivals. But college aged kids without a lot of extra income to waste are certainly being more choosy now.
Traveling across the country is a lot trickier, so if there's few artists they want to see at a more local festival they are more likely to pick that over something they've got to travel a few hours or more to. It makes a lot more sense to just drive across Atlanta to go to Shaky Knees for a few nights rather than have to spend a lot of money on food and camping supplies to live at Bonnaroo for almost a week.
When I was down at Okee, well over 90% of the car tags were from Florida and it looked like just over half of the campgrounds were full. I really didn't have to wait all day to get up front for Tame, I could have gotten the rail if I'd shown up a few hours beforehand if I wanted to. That lineup was pretty squarely targeted to the 18 to 25 crowd and I think their attendance outside of the immediate area was hurt because of it.
I personally think it's a mistake for the big camping events to cater to a younger demographic right now in the current market. They just don't have the money to spend. I think if there were a handful of more names like Stevie or acts that were more popular ten to twenty years ago, they'd sell better. Just look at how well that Vegas emo festival sold as an example.
