His ego was big-ish in 2011 but he was also on a Taylor apology tour of sorts and was willing to co-headline, not anything like he is now IMO. Fred Again.., Kim Petras, and Orville Peck are probably the three I could see playing that late that I'd be pumped for.

I’ve been playing around with some set times and really think it works well if you do Jamie 3rd to last on the outdoor. Start at like 6:50 and goes until it’s dark outside at 7:50. He doesn’t have a light show of any kind so this would be a cool vibe set as the sun sets. If you played him here then you’d have minimal overlap with any of the big three in the Yuma.
Something like..
Main Maggie (6:25 - 7:15) > Joji (7:40 - 8:30) > Doja (9:00 -9:50) > Ye (10:25 - 12)
Outdoor Jamie XX (6:50 - 7:50) > Ari (8:15 - 9:05) > RTJ (9:30 - 10:20)
Maybe I’m trying too hard to make set times work for me, but I think it makes sense. Give Jamie the David Byrne treatment.

I think the public wants more apologies now lol. People didn’t like Kanye in 2011 but for the most part he had the music consumer’s respect. This was after MBDTF for Christ sake. I don’t need to list everything that’s gone on in the last 6 years about this man but one show doing his old songs (not even as good as he used to perform them) isn’t enough to absolve it all. I just think we will have multiple big Sahara act, Yuma act, and indie/electronic acts playing during the 2 hours we allot him. Especially knowing he will be at least 15 mins late.

Am i crazy to think Joji on the Main at that time would be incredibly under-attended?

Oh, I agree with literally everything you said haha. I just think his ego has ballooned well beyond where he was in 2011. I really hope I get a good alternative option so I can skip him and not have to consider just going home like much of the rest of my crew will.

To be fair they were crazy to give him that billing IMO. It’s not like he’s going to fair much better if you give him closing the Outdoor.
A lot of Joji fans are big hiphop fans, so I doubt they'd put him opposite Kanye at all. I think he'll be fine on the main. Joji going into Doja is a good thing for his crowd imo. Not saying everyone there will be a die hard Joji fan but I don't think the energy will be off at all. Weird that he's 3rd on his day, but Joji -> Doja -> Kanye is a relatively smooth transition. His crowd will be "big" because of people waiting for Doja and/or Kanye

I personally agree with all of the above re: Joji but I'm always pretty surprised how many plays his tunes have on Spotify. 9 of his top 10 songs on spotify over 100m listens, one at 760m. GV also is in on 88rising obviously. But I honestly just don't know what his fanbase is or how it correlates to Coachella, so I have no clue where to put him.

Joji's fanbase is a big jumble because of his Filthy Frank days. His fans from YouTube/pre-music career absolutely adore him. He had a massive cult following. So he has fans of all demographics who followed him to his music career. Joji himself is a big hiphop fan and used to do freestyles (pretty dang good ones too) on his channel, a lot of his old fans were hiphop people too. And on top of that, the Asian community supports Joji heavily. So yeah as a person in general, Joji has a massive fanbase that doesn't necessarily mirror how good his music actually is or not.
I think swapping Joji and RTJ would be perfect, personally.
I think the fields will be quiet for the start of Kanye. I can see no other shows going on during the first 10-15 minutes of his set, and then getting at least 2-3 stages going after he's had some time to himself. Probably Fatboy in the Yuma, a rock act in a tent, maybe a Pop act in a tent as well.

I mean, it will be a lot more filled in if he plays the Outdoor vs the Main obviously. I'm also still shocked he's billed that high. Did he really get that much bigger between 2020 and 2022?
Regarding the day Jamie xx plays, someone on Reddit posted that they noticed that all the names that start with 'Ja' are listed on different days than the poster; Jamie xx, Japanese Breakfast, and Jayda G.
Do we think there is more of a chance that this is an error with the lineup page? Or do we start moving all of those acts to the day the lineup page says?
Agreed… the error seems to be attributed to artists that only start with a Ja. There is no way that Sunday is adding Jayda G with the Yuma already overflowing for this day.
Who are the best acts to primarily go against Ye? My vote would be
Kim Petras Solomun SLANDER
Doesn't it make a bit more sense to have Fatboy against Kanye for crowd control purposes? Or do we think it would be fine to have him against Doja?
Kim Petras against Kanye to me seems wrong, if anything just because I don't see them having her as cannon-fodder. Slander, to me at least, seems like a shoe-in to close the Sahara against Kanye.

I could see the Yuma going a bunch of ways. It’s anybody’s guess at this point, but I thought Truevine stated Bedouin were scheduled to close the Yuma against Frank Ocean in 2020. That’s why I think Fatboy is playing earlier. Solomun still makes sense as a strong tent closer against Kanye IMO and would still be well attended.
I’m open to suggestions on Gobi/Mojave options. Nobody screams put me against Kanye on this day IMO. Kim Petras is just who I went with closing the Gobi because I thought she could still have a decent crowd against him.
Joji playing 3rd on main is 100% better for his crowd. It would be a ghost town on the Outdoor opposite Doja or Kanye. Gimme Love really blew up since the 2020 line up reveal but yeah even then it doesn't warrant 3rd on his day.
