I'd be pretty surprised if Blackpink plays Coachella again. They did get a ton of buzz and hype from it last time, and while their set was successful it's not like they were packing the Sahara. It isn't really their scene (though perhaps as Kpop gets more normalized it might be) so they're not some sort of natural, recurring booking, and the hype a second time around will be much diminished for both them and Coachella. Considering how easy it is for them to move tickets on their own right, the "novelty" or whatever of playing Coachella doesn't seem like it would be at all worth it.
I think with so many of the Kpop acts just going with LN it serves GV something to try and keep the one they had gotten first and highlight them. No other major festival is even booking Kpop. You didnt see LN trying to sprinkle them into their lineups this year cause theyre already on thin ice with how their stuff has been seen as "weak" at the moment. As much as the current crop of kpop acts are selling out arenas, you can put them on a festival lineup so you can get some tickets sale out of it. Its just a matter of billing pretty much.
Tapping into new audiences which they can hopefully keep a percentage to return the following year is part of the plan in the long term. Having a decent amount of Latin and Asian artists caters to the region very well anyway. Grupo Firme and 88Rising had sizeable crowds so something is working. I wonder what the Harry Styles fans who came just for him thought of everything they saw on Friday and whatever else over the weekend if they stayed.
I don’t think The Chicks will be headlining Coachella because they’re so disappointed at the moment and they can play at Stagecoach instead of Coachella.
Lin-Manuel Miranda. I swear to God this is what they need to do.
Special guest parade with Hamilton, Encanto, Moana, In the Heights at his disposal. Coming off of We Don't Talk About Bruno being a #1 hit, this is the year to make this happen. Leslie Odom Jr singing Wait for It with fireworks when it kicks into full drive? The Rock singing "You're Welcome"? A singalong to We Don't Talk About Bruno? Honestly this would go down as a legend tier set and would give that Hans Zimmer/Danny Elfman buzz without necessarily doing a re-tread of the composer thing.

I say this with all due respect. The Chicks would have the lowest crowd for a headliner in history
John Williams is really the only composer left with the same kind of recognition as Zimmer and Elfman.
Thats an interesting one cause he is at The Bowl every single year. But considering the people who would be attending the fest anyway theyve never seen him. I would personally like them to get the Pete Tong Ibiza Classics show to the polo fields. Edm with an orchestra seems the kind of route to take to get people to be curious. Im sure people would trip out hearing some of those tracks at a stage that they walk by at and just go check it out.

Honestly there are very few headliners who would be worse attended than The Stone Roses. That was a Gobi size crowd, if that. I walked by leaving Tegan & Sara and literally could not see a single soul from the back of the field, and I couldn't even wrap my head around it.

I don’t really see John Williams working personally, unlike Zimmer/Elfman there’s just nothing rock or edgy about his scores, wonderful as they are. Reznor/Ross seem like the most likely bet but I also wouldn’t be surprised if that slot doesn’t continue.
I kinda wouldn't be surprised if we got all of the original 2020 headliners for 2023, or at least 2/3 of them. But on the other hand I do feel like they'll book Bad Bunny and/or BTS to headliner sooner than later. And, obviously, if a slam dunk artist like Adele or Taylor Swift agree to play then they wouldn't pass up on an artist of that caliber.
I'm almost more curious as to how they'll pick their subs going forward. If they'll have the 3rd act be a psuedo-sub going forward like Daniel and Megan did this year (and RTJ was supposed to do with Rage in 2020, I'm bummed that didn't happen).
It'll never happen, but I'd love to see the legend of zelda orchestra perform at Coachella.
Yoko Shimomura with the Final Fantasy+Kingdom Hearts (and more) orchestra would be amazing too. I feel like something of the sort should happen eventually. It may end up in the Mojave instead of the Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer Outdoor slots because they may deem video game OSTs as less popular than movie ones (though it's highly debatable). But I saw the KH orchestra twice and it was beautiful.
edit: Might not be possible to fit an orchestra on the Mojave stage lol
Ludwig Goransson is my ringer for Composer slot down the road, big backlog of Gambino music, TV, movies
idk that he'll be as much of a household name as Danny, Carpenter, Hanz, but he's in so many credits on huge projects that it's probably underrated how many people know him
or at the very least the "who?" is followed by a "oh wow yeah"

I would love to see a Trent Reznor “superjam” kind of career spanning set. Just leave Atticus Ross on stage the entire time and play a mix of Nine Inch Nails, How to Destroy Angels, and movie soundtrack stuff. Maybe bring out some other artists to guest on songs he’s produced.
I would personally be way more interested in this over a solo NIN set and you could avoid the argument of whether NIN is a headliner. Might be a little biased because that 2013 HTDA set is an all-time Coachella highlight for me.

"Ludwig Goransson performing Black Panther" would get a crowd
