they were supposed to be touring May 2020, nearly booked them in SD until the world got weird.
oh wow thats awesome! do you know of any other notable tours you almost booked that never happened in 2021 or 2022? Especially curious about the cities Frank was going to do for his scrapped 2020 tour
March 2020 I was actually getting a lot of traction with artists rescheduling for the Fall Coachella as they had dropped the radius clause for it. Also had dates for SOPHIE, RIP. Sophie was going to drop an album + tour a couple months before the tragedy occurred.
never heard anything about Frank, was really only going up to 2k cap venues so didn't have much intel on big stuff aside from some of the people we worked with and a mentor in Arizona. did actually get a lot of Coachella info due to reaching out to agents and being told the artist isn't available because of a "radius clause for an April festival in the desert".
the AEG and Live Nation stranglehold continuously got worse as the years went on so even the 1k cap venues we were doing were getting tougher to book acts for and right before the pandemic I had moved to the East Coast so haven't been in the loop for a couple years. going to be back in California next year so hoping to pick things back up but it's incredibly tough in Southern California for an independent promoter (because of AEG and LN).

tell me more about these San Diego shows you're booking. Anything fun coming up?
hoping to get things rolling next year again. had Jarreau Vandal booked for this year but there were nonstop VISA issues so ended up losing that date. still remain in contact with agents and venues. 2019 I had booked Madlib, Toro y Moi, Zack Fox, Yves Tumor, Lucky Daye, Sosupersam, Sam Gellaitry, MNDSGN, Leikeli47...bookings will continue to be along those lines with some more Latin artists to coincide with a project i'm working on called Santo Chupacabra.
Haven't followed closely this year - is the prevailing logic Frank Ocean is still in + Travis Scott is bookable again + a pop star to fill in for RATM?

I don’t think anyone is expecting Travis Scott to fully headline. Maybe he’ll appear with someone but he’s got a lot career rehab left to do.
Rihanna, Taylor, Madonna, Beyoncé are all (reportedly) touring next year. People (me) hoping they get Rihanna since it seems like it might be their last best chance, but don’t think it happens. Madonna doing a greatest hits tour is kind of flying under the radar as an option imo. Taylor seems unlikely, Beyoncé won’t happen.
Bieber, Tyler, Kendrick were all apparently approached last year to fill in for Kanye (and there was a rumor Bieber was already signed for this year) so they should all be on the radar.
Everything else just seems like picking names at random at this point.

I definitely think Coachella was one of those two festivals. It's just such a thing they'd do. The only weird part to me would be the idea that they would drop him because of something he did instead of him just dropping out. They've been fine with so much bullshit already.
I don't think Festive Owl is really as connected as they claim to be, especially when it comes to Coachella. they had no novel insight into the delays around Coachella lineup release last year as far as I can recall, and they've whiffed on making major incorrect predictions in the past. it seems kinda absurd to me to think Coachella would have booked Ye for 2023 after the fiasco this year, but anything's possible I guess.

Assuming for a moment Festival Owls tweet isn’t bullshit, which is already going out on a limb, a hip hop centric festival made way more sense for Kanye than ACL

Coachella has been committed to booking Kanye long past the point that they ever should have been so if it was them it wouldn't surprise me at all. They were so thirsty to have that guy on their lineup it was embarrasing.

Rolling Loud doesn’t want to upset their fans again and have things thrown at whatever replacement headliner again

was gonna say, i'm pretty sure it was just two editions of rolling loud

The only replacement they wouldve cared about at that point and not thrown shit at was Travis.
