Ugh, still way too expensive imo.
agreed, but right across the street from Hart Plaza, and probably the best downtown deal we'll find.

Unless there's another dumb strike next year, I'll likely be back across the river at Caesars next year. The tunnel shuttle bus that picks up right next to Hart Plaza really does make it so incredibly convenient.

Just booked this as a backup. $300 for Fri-Tues, No Prepayment, Free Cancellation. Stayed there before, its nothing fancy but its clean and not dangerous during the festival, its always full of festival patrons. Plus its walking distance to Hart Plaza just one block down the street, and it has an attached restaurant that I remember was pretty damn good and cheap.

Oh maaaaaaaan I'm tempted to book just to have something. Even if the lineup is meh, the afters more than made up for it this year, so I'd hope the same would happen next year.

apparently Tan Ho, the founder and adminstrator of the Movement facebook group, took money from lots of people for what i'm assuming were discounted Movement tickets of some kind. Said tickets were not delivered to most people, or at best were delivered after the festival already started. People have been requesting refunds, and he's ghosted them for the past two months. Threads started about it in the facebook group were deleted, presumably by Tan himself.
But this most recent thread has stayed up, and Tan has showed back up offering apologies and promising to make everybody whole. He is also stepping down as administrator of the facebook group. According to him he bit off more than he could chew, and his ticket source, whoever that was, didn't come through, so he was left without tickets and people got screwed.
Clearly he spent the cash on whatever, because otherwise he would have refunded people right away. Some people have gotten refunds recently, but it seems most still have nothing.
the moral of the story is just buy your ticket from the goddamn festival website.
edit: i should add when i say "nothing exciting price wise" that it's not a screaming good deal right now, but it's a hell of a lot better than you'll get a month before the festival if you want a walking distance downtown hotel, when everything will be $300+ per night.
Loyalty presale is this Thursday at 12est. GA weekend passes $125, VIP weekend tickets $225. Only available to previous purchasers of tickets. Email says my email address will be my code to access the loyalty sale.

Maaaaan really want to come back if not just for the afters. Buuuut, not sure how feasible it'll be with Coachella and potentially EDC Vegas next year.

I did not peg you as a guy that would go to EDC Vegas

Eh I'd go to EDC Las Vegas. If you scheduled the acts right I'm sure the crowds are fine and tons of eye candy and photo ops. Plus if you're not feelin it one day/night you're still in Vegas.
The only thing that BLOWSSSS about that festival is the logistics of getting to/from the speedway. I'd legit look at splitting the cost of a helicopter with a bunch of people. It's not as bad as you might think, my buddy does it every year.

every year there is some article about the clusterfuck traffic nightmare that is EDC Vegas.
a helicopter into a festival sounds like the dopest shit ever. and if you are going to do it somewhere do it in vegas.

Hahahaha you guys are great.
Apparently the shuttle lines used to be terrible, but heard they were pretty smooth and relatively quick this year. Of course, you gotta go early and leave early, but that's similar to Coachella.
This year's lineup had some good gets. Cirez D, Black Madonna, Maceo Plex, etc. Plus, parties during the week had Black Madonna, Black Coffee, etc. EDC Vegas' techno and house offerings got pretty generic for a while, but this year seemed like a return to form.
Just finishing up this set. Such an amazing ending. Must've been crazy to dance to those last few moments on a Monday morning.
unfortunately i left before the very end, but relistening to the show i remember how distinctly house-y it got at the end there, which I was loving, especially considering how intense and high bpm Plaslaiko's set was beforehand.
i'll consider doing NWB again next year, but Sunday always seems to be the most packed day for aftershows and I want to check out other venues. without even knowing who will be there i'm already hoping to do TV Lounge opening party on Friday and for Saturday/Sunday some combo of a Masonic official after and whatever Saunderson is doing at the Magic Stick, depending on what days they fall. I haven't been able to physically make a Monday after yet.
i'm already way too excited for this weekend given it's seven months away.
TV Lounge on Friday is always a solid move. Heard great things about the venue, and RA always curates great lineups.
i've trended more towards the techno artists the couple years i've gone, and TV Lounge always looks a bit housier to me, but i'm ready to allow more house into my life now.
the only venue i'm not interested in returning to is The Works. went to the opening party last year and it was pretty cramped in there, small venue with lots of choke points. i get why it's a classic space, it's super grimy and pretty dark. but tangent is also grimy and dark but it is easier to navigate with bigger rooms.

As a bigger house head, I can appreciate the RA x smartbar party having more house. They usually get some nice acts who don't end up playing Movement (Palms Trax, Bicep, Derrick Carter, The Black Madonna in previous years).
Funny you mention The Works. In 2016, we planned on going to parties at both Leland City Club and The Works. I had heard The Works was known for being disgustingly hot, but not much about Deland aside from it feeling "underground." We get to Leland to see Matthew Dear play some of his all-night set, but leave within the hour because it's ungodly hot. They turned off all the fans, the dancefloor felt like going up Satan's scrotum and it was just a nightmare. So, naturally I'm dreading going to The Works after that. My fiancee and I deliberate selling our tickets, ditching our group and hitting something else up. But, we fell to peer pressure and went...and had a great time. It was hot, but it was nice to go outside or feel the air blow in from the doors opening and closing.
