In the four-or-so months since "Controller" and Channel's subsequent and equally polished single, "Jet Black," debuted, each thick and louche and leaning deep into the bottom end, his name has been popcorning, drawing attention from streaming services (Spotify, Pandora and Apple Music all noticed, because their livelihoods depend on recognizing "bubbling" artists), radio stations from L.A. to Ireland, publications from Pitchfork to Pigeons and Planes, a shout from bon vivrant L.A. journalist Jeff Weiss. Even Elton John got hip. ("I tripped out, I was like what the f***," Channel says of finding out The Rocket Man was listening. "I woke up and I just played 'All Of The Lights' by Kanye West and just danced in my f*****' living room.")
Also check out Ciel, Noncompliant, Wajatta, Tin Man, Marie Davidson, FLOORPLAN and DJ Bone
I fucking love Maya. Definitely one of the more exciting names on the lineup for me.
And as most of you have already figured out, leak is real. I knew Red Bull had snagged Gucci Mane for their stage and the fact that he's on there seals it for me.

Names I am excited for:
Amelie Lens Charlotte De Witte Chris Liebing Danny Daze Disclosure DJ Nobu DJ Tennis Dubfire b2b Nicole Moudaber Fisher Floorplan Get Real Griz Gucci Mane Heidi J. Phlip Josh Wink LSD Madlib Maya Jane Coles Orbital Patrick Topping Shigeto Tale Of Us Yaeji
Also there are two names in heavy cursive I can't even make out.
Whoever is to the right of Fisher on the 4th line, and to the right of Advent on the last line.
Yeee Maya always kills it, seen her a few times and she never fails to deliver. Her set at Coachella in 2017 was particularly bonkers. Very hyped to see her Nocturnal Sunshine alias in a few months.
As far those heavy cursive names, those would be FJAAK and Virgil Abloh.

Oh fuck yes. Two more names I'm definitely excited to see.
I'll be wearing my ear plugs regardless but good to know. I'll be asking a lot of questions for you to answer lol.
I'm also officially getting excited to eat my weight in coney dogs and greek food lol. I might go up to Detroit early and try to catch the Tigers that Thursday before the fest

for sure, ask away. as for the coneys I will definitely be up at Lafayette stuffing my face. lafayette or slows bbq on Friday could be a good spot/time for an inforoo meetup.
thinking about Floorplan it is possible they close out Stargate instead of underground. Robert Hood closed Stargate in 2017.
guesses on stage closers, except for Red Bull because I don't understand the booking on that and don't spend a lot of time there:
Saturday:
Main: Orbital Underground: LSD Pyramid: Amelie Lens Stargate: Stacey Pullen?
Sunday:
Main: Dubfire b3b Nicole Moudaber b3b Paco Osuna (confirmed) Underground: No clue, maybe Oscar Mulero? Big question mark here. Pyramid: Charlotte de Witte or Chris Liebing Stargate: Saunderson b2b Saunderson
Monday:
Main: Get Real? Underground: Floorplan? Pyramid: Tale of Us? Hot Since 82? Stargate: ?
Lots of question marks, except for Saturday which is kind of straightforward.

realizing I saw Maya Jane Coles at Voodoo Fest in 2011 in the early afternoon play to like twenty people. Didn't realize she had become a thing. Listening to her Drumcode Halloween set from oct 2017, this is right up my alley.
depends on the DJ. if they understand the room and can mix the frequencies accordingly then it can sound great, if always a bit bass heavy. but if they aren't listening the bass overwhelms all other frequencies (unfortunately this happened with Steve Bicknell last year, at least at the start, I didn't stick around to see if he tweaked it any).
Thinking about popping up for Saturday to see Orbital, Disclosure, Wajatta, Marie Davidson and Maya Jane Coles.
A) What else on Saturday is worth checking out? B) What else should I know about this festival? I'm not very familiar with its setup
The Pyramid stage can be a bitch to navigate. It's in a corner with a very thin footpath into the crowd.
The Red Bull Stage has a ton of room and only stage with grass to lounge on if you please.
The sound at the Made In Detroit stage will be terrible.
The underground stage is a moist sauna and over 30 minutes of exposure to it can become a health risk.
Be careful walking down the concrete stairs at the main stage, especially at night.
The food at the festival is pretty meh overall. Avoid the "carnival" food stands as you're almost guaranteed food poisoning. The pizza stand by the Pyramid Stage is pretty cheap, quick, and not terrible.
Movement is a marathon not a race. Shows are literally non stop from Friday night into Tuesday morning with aftershows every night going until the festival begins the next afternoon. Get rest.
The weather is typically pretty comfortable, however last year was HOT AS FUCK, so it's definitely possible.
Don't play in the water at the fountain, guaranteed AIDS.
Behind the underground stage there is a row of industrial fans that can be pretty nice to chill in front of for a quick rest.
Go to TV Lounge at least once while you're at the festival.
Stay away from the casinos, my money alone keeps them afloat.
You can wear JNCOs if you want, no one will judge you at this festival.
