per Moe Espinosa (Drumcell) on facebook Interface is happening this year. no other details.
like all the previous parties that were formerly at The Works i imagine this will be at the same TBA venue, which is rumored to be somewhere in Hamtramck.
My friend wants to go to a "warehouse rave feel after party". Does anyone (mostly 3post1jack1 I guess) have any suggestions for us?
i've heard Russell Industrial Center is the most warehousey of the venues. Only show booked there is Country Club Disco on Sunday, which is Golf Clap's curated after. no lineup yet but it will be techhousey. i have not been to that venue.
not exactly a big warehouse but Tangent Gallery certainly has that old school rave feel. I have been to Tangent and recommend it, this is where Eden will be Friday and the Return To The Source parties (Tresor, No Way Back, Lot Mass, the Bunker). I think everyone should go to No Way Back at least once, its arguably the most infamous after party:
there are two stages at Tangent. It's too dark inside to get any decent pictures but here is a pic from last year outside, this was around 9am i think:
That actually really helps, thanks 3post1jack1 . Any idea when other parties at Russell may be announced?
actually looking at last year the only party at the russell was country club disco. so that might be it.
Oh damn. Not really looking to see Golf Clap and friends lol oh well. Do you do after parties every night? I think my max may be three, definitely won't do one Monday night lol I'll be so tired after the festival and at least two afters

last year i did two afters friday, but just a couple hours at each one. after saturday, maybe about 3 hours. no after sunday, but i got up around sunrise and went to No Way Back until maybe 9:30am. no after monday.
this year i'm planning to do fri/sat/sun. but likely just a few hours at each one, i can't stay up all night especially after ten hours at a festival.
i'm definitely doing tv lounge friday, as it stands i'll probably be at the magic stick both saturday and sunday for the carl craig and kevin saunderson afters, respectively. those both end at four am. i'm just waiting to see if anything gets announced at masonic saturday.
edit: and so far i've always been too tired monday to do anything, plus my tuesday flight is 8:30am so a monday after is definitely not happening.

modern cathedrals / eden lineup out.
also this is the first after this year to be an "RA Pick". they also say they are expanding this year, last year it was just in the small room at tangent, so they must be adding the second larger room as well like the Return To The Source parties throughout the weekend.
Hart Plaza, Detroit, United States of America May 25 - May 27
Movement is the big daddy of US electronic music festivals. Taking place on the banks of the Detroit River, the three-day event is great for casual fans and diehard devotees alike. Its broad lineup attracts people from all walks of life, whether you prefer heady techno (DJ Nobu, Oscar Mulero, Umfang), rowdy rap (Danny Brown, Gucci Mane) or colorful house (Seth Troxler, Soul Clap, Yaeji). It's also an essential pilgrimage for any techno fan looking to pay their respects to Motor City heroes like Octave One, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson and Floorplan. When the official festivities end at Hart Plaza each night, a whole world of afterparties comes to life, so you can either rest up and get ready for the next day or keep it going past sunrise. Just make sure you save some stamina for when Monday afternoon comes around.
RA Pick: The Detroit debut of Wajatta, AKA John Tejada and the multi-talented musician and comedian Reggie Watts.
i know they do this every year but i always appreciate them showing Movement some love. and i love the picture choice this year, makes me really want to be back at that stage. i was likely somewhere in that crowd.

Super impressed by whoever was able to get this photograph. That stage is a MOTHER FUCKER to shoot at. Not only because its so damn dark, but because there is NO room on the stage for anyone else besides the artist. The best you can do is squeeze in on the left side of the DJ and shoot over a tower of monitors. Even then its so dark you typically aren't getting shit. The fact that this photographer somehow got themselves on the RIGHT side of the DJ for this shot is impressive. They either were stuck there the entire set, or climbed up over the stage from the ground.
Just bought my group tickets to the No Way Back Party, so now we officially have after party plans for that and the Smart Bar/TV Lounge party. I don't think the two girls in my group want to commit to another after show, but if my buddy and I are feeling up to it we said we'd go to Magic Stick to see Kevin Saunderson + Derrick May as Hi Tek Soul Concept. Hopefully that one doesn't sell out for a minute so we'll have time to decide. If not those two afters are probably more than enough for us. Really excited for this, probably need to do more research

the saunderson party is the same night as No Way Back. not saying you couldn't do both, you totally could if you have the energy since saunderson ends at 4am and No Way Back goes until.
the carl craig/troxler party is on Saturday at the magic stick.

For some reason I thought the saunderson party wasn't on that day lol whoops, thanks for pointing that out. Definitely not trying to buy more tickets/ubers for another party on the same night at this point lol

Schedule observations:
-Virgil Abloh changed days from Sunday to Saturday -Wajatta is earlier than I thought they'd be on Saturday -Other than that, no big surprises Saturday -Sunday I'm really looking forward to Volvox > Noncompliant then two hour sets from both Liebing > Hawtin, will be crazy. Hopefully the crowds at the mainstage will keep Pyramid manageable. Also need to work in some time for Circle of Live, that sounds cool. -No surprises on Sunday -Surprised to see Griz closing main stage instead of Get Real on Monday -Surprised to see Yaeji closing Red Bull instead of Floorplan on Monday -Surprised to see Stephan Bodzin closing instead of Tale of Us on Monday -The last two acts on Monday are heavy conflicts for me. Floorplan, DJ Bone, DJ Nobu, Tale of Us.
