Also had a call with the Movement team yesterday and they've officially hired me on to the photography team this year. Ya boy's finally gettin PAID!
wow that's great man congrats! i'm sure you're glad you decided to go this year now.
Whats funny is I tried to cancel my trip last week because I was going to OSHEAGA this year, but I bought my flight with credit card points and they're completely non-refundable so I couldnt change the flights or get credit.
I really haven't done any research for this, so I guess now I can start lol. But it's looking like it'll be a fun weekend with the TV Lounge/Smart Bar pre party on Friday and No Way Back on Sunday
Saturday
The Marie Davidson vs UMFANG conflict is disappointing. We'll probably go to UMFANG but I might check out Marie for a minute. Don't know any names before either of them so suggestions would be nice, otherwise we'll just roll in later. You said you like Tin Man right 3post1jack1 ? Worth checking out? Otherwise it's looking like
Marie/UMFANG > Wajatta > Soul Clap > Amelie Lens > LSD > last 30 minutes of either Orbital or Disclosure. I'll let my group decide if they wanna see a familiar act in Disclosure or check out Orbital
Sunday
Upset that ANNA is right in the middle of Volvox and Noncompliant, really wanted to see all three lol. I've already seen Volvox and ANNA at Smart Bar (ANNA with my movement group actually) so splitting sets or cutting one won't be too big of a deal. I'm excited for Channel Tres and Charlotte De Witte. Need some suggestions for how to close the night. My girlfriend is a big hip hop head so she'd probably like to see Danny Brown, especially if he has new music. But the Sanderson b2b and Richie Hawtin might be more of the movement vibe we're trying to get out of this weekend, especially since it's in Detroit. Who out of Hawtin and Saunderson should we see? Or will the mainstage b3b be better than I'm expecting?
Some combo of Volvox/ANNA/Noncompliant > Channel Tres > Charlotte De Witte > not sure lol
Monday
Feel like I'm going to end up going to Griz with my friend who is a huge fan lol, I've never seen Griz so I'm cool with it if he's happy. I'll see Yeaji at Lolla so not worried about missing her here. I'll take some advice on Heidi vs Audion vs DJ Bone, leaning Heidi right now.
Maybe Detroit Techno Militia 2x4 if I'm there early enough > The Advent > FJAAK > Audion/Heidi/DJ Bone > Floorplan > maybe a bit of DJ Nobu > Griz
Edit: Just read about Circle of Live on Sunday, that looks pretty cool. Might do that for a bit after Channel Tres and just see the last half of Charlotte De Witte

must have been someone else who recommended Tin Man, I'm not familiar with him/her.
re: sunday the b3b sets i've heard from them are just every drumcode-ish track you've heard on every mix for the past year. which to me is still cool and would be fun but it's nothing mind blowing. I've really enjoyed what I've heard from Hawtin on mixes the past year and just generally like him and he's a legend so that's my pick. since i'm seeing the saunderson b2b derrick may after i'm not going to his set, but i'm sure it will be stupid fun, the crowd at saunderson's movement set last year was great, super fun and carefree and chill. didn't hurt that he transitioned from KiNK's set live which was awesome. i'm sure danny brown's set will be fun but it's hard for me to go see hip-hop at movement when there are so many great techno artists to see.
and yeah i'm going to have to checkout circle of live at some point. maybe start the day there to see how it is.
Damn just read about circle of live. I don't know if they're gonna release any more info about times for that but Vril would probably be my number one act of the weekend if I knew when he was going to be there.
I'm really liking Shigeto, I might add him to my schedule. One of my friends wants to see Madlib, and I guess I'd give him a shot for a bit, I just feel like I watched a boiler room set or something of his and really wasn't into it. Does anyone have a good set by him they'd recommend?

Madlib isn't a very good DJ, so I don't have a set I'd recommend. Expect lots of trainwrecks

It’s less of a dj set and more of him recreating beats live. At least when I saw him. But it is clunky as fuck.

If you aren’t a madlib stan, go see Shigeto. His sets opening at Bruiser thanksgiving were great, and if you get to see this it’s a bonus.

i had not listened to any live sets from Madlib, but am listening to a boiler room set right now from about a year ago:
i know madlib is a production legend, but it seems like you'd be just standing around listening to a guy play some hip-hop tracks. which don't get me wrong would be cool, just don't know if it's cool enough to not see The Advent and Fjaak for.

Shigeto is actually on the same stage right before Madlib so I wouldn't have to worry about seeing both. It was more of do I wanna see him for a bit before FJAAK since I'll be right there and a friend is interested, or check out The Advent/Danny Daze/Matthew Johnson/Dj Tennis beforehand?
I saw you linked a video in your response but it's not showing up for me?

Yea it didn’t show up.🤷♂️ It was Whippin form his ZGTO project though. I’m biased since I like all of his stuff and I’m a Michigander though.

Got my ticket finally. Heading down Friday from Toronto and linking up with friends there. This is definitely the most out of my territory festival in terms of music. So looking forward to just taking everything as it comes.
How much cash should I set a side each day? How much is beer in VIP?
