Charlotte has all the shitty parts of a big city without any of the good parts.
i think charlotte should go within the first few, for sure, but in a quick half-hearted defense of it, i will say that although the downtown area is indeed an emblem of soulless corporate America, there are a few cute neighborhoods once you pushed out a bit from directly downtown - Plaza Midwood and NoDa are both pretty cute.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Boston's racism problem is bad, but half the cities on this list essentially have no public transportation because the powers that be are so scared at the idea that black people might come to their parts of town
boston drivers complain way more about other boston drivers but it's not that bad compared to NYC
NYC drivers are psycho too
Anything south of White Plains and I want to take a train
i made the mistake of driving through manhattan to drop a gov ball wristband at my friends work and it took me a fucking hour to drive to my airbnb in queens from there
I always think about the fact that the Boston Tunnel legit collapsed 10 minutes after we drove through it. I didn't notice the driver's being any worse than they are here in NOLA. They are pretty horrible. Also there was already a murder here since my last post in this thread. I don't think NOLA is the winner in this thing.

most of bostons racism comes from the boomer nimbys that have been here for decades but from my experience there are a lot of v friendly and accepting people my age. I feel like in around 20-30 years it wont be nearly as bad here
I am shocked everyone is so quick to give NYC the crown. I’ve lived here for almost 15 years and I would put Portland at the top of my list. This place breaks your heart as much as it gives you a good time. As my boss says, it’s a bad boyfriend
only city I've been to on this list w trash lining the streets, shouldn't coast

We need more people who think their city sucks. All of your cities can’t be the best.
Most people adore Charleston, and it has its perks for sure, but its an old-timey town being destroyed by grimey northern real estate tycoons and bullshit travel media causing its infrastructure to collapse from transplants and retirees. At least that's what my dad tells me. I'm still in the state of mind that my city is Seoul.

Bah. NYC drivers aren’t psychos. We’re aggressive. But there’s an understanding and everybody’s playing by the same rules. I’d much rather drive here than, say, my hometown of Lexington, KY, where everybody’s so passive aggressive and indecisive. I feel like that’s much more dangerous.

Charleston is nice but kinda sucks. I like Savannah a lot more in comparison.
I ate at Boss Oysters* there one time when I told my boss I was in Alligator Pointe looking at some land, and he said to go to Apalachicola to get oysters. I was surprised with the Jamaican attitude there because that's Trumpmerikkka right there. But yes, it was cool. I also like the islands down there (St George/St. Vincent). But it's like once you get east of Panama City, it's not really the Gulf anymore, it's saltwater marsh and pretty crappy until you get down to St. Pete Beach or so which is several hours around the curve of the armpit.
* Once upon a time Apalachicola Oysters ruled the world. They were always fresh and salty and delicious even though they are the same variety of oyster you get anywhere on the Gulf, just saltier because of the distance from the MS River. I can't remember if they had Texas or Louisiana oysters, but they were from the central/western Gulf. I think there's some point that the FF&WS is opening those beds back up - 2025 or 2026 maybe?
Yeah my families from Perry. Real stinker of a place.
Wakulla though?
Isn't that more up toward Tally? I know y'all from down there claim all that area, but I think a line N/S through Tallahassee until just outside of Jacksonville is hell. I'm going that far east because my sister lived in Macclenny for like 10 years.

I haven't been to Savannah in like 20 years but always enjoyed the city. My buddy there went to SCAD and worked at Paula deans restaurant right before she got her food network show. Fwiw at the time the kitchen was absolutely riddled with opiates, with the kitchen manager being the primary dealer. Not surprising, it is a kitchen, but knowing that from the jump made it impossible for me not to always see the darkness around Paula dean.
Savannah is my birth town, and my college girlfriend went to SCAD, so I'm very partial to it. I think it's fair to say it has a few one-ups on Charleston. At least it it isn't the city that started the Civil War.
