Baltimore. Seems really cold there. 40 degree days are apparently considered good and normal, according to the Wire. Sounds like hell. I don't care how many 30 dollar crab cakes I can eat.
Baltimore is no colder than Minneapolis, Denver, Chicago, NYC, Boston, or Philly. Probably not DC either.
and yes i agree baltimore is one of the more dangerous cities--you just need to look at the crime rate to ascertain that. but it isn't as if multiple other cities on this list aren't, as well. like, i dont exactly consider NYC an emblem of low violent crime.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Yeah, I suspect that most of these metro areas have high crime rates.
I’m voting Vegas. Baltimore has its problems, but it’s also not a giant middle finger to the environment more or less designed to start sucking money out of you the second you step foot off the plane and make it seem fun to flush all your disposable income down the toilet.
I’m old enough to have watched Vegas literally change its own environment from a dry pleasant heat to a humid godforsaken wtf heat in the summer. By adding all those fucking pools and fucking fountains that soak up every bit of water, Lake Mead is disappearing. All so we can get drunk, watch some titties, and throw away money.
I have had fun in Vegas, don’t get me wrong. But I can recognize the disaster it has become. And I won’t go back.

Picking on Baltimore for weather is an odd choice. Definitely warmer on average than half the cities on this list. 2nd highest murder rate per capita of major U.S. cities? Reasonable concern. Although I've lived here for 12 years now and have never felt unsafe. Definitely an outsider's view of Baltimore that it's terribly dangerous.

I've never felt unsafe in Baltimore, but I've really been in Fells Point, Federal Hill, and Inner Harbor most of the time I've spent there. I was trying to find a way to say it's safe if you stay in the right places without opening up a conversation about the intricate politics that exist in a lot of our cities with zoning, gentrification, affordable housing, policing, schooling, etc.
Staying on for Houston cuz I doubt there will be any reason I'll ever go in my life!
They did have a lesbian mayor (Annise Parker) for a while who did an excellent job as far as I could tell. The flip was there was a bit of a backlash on the broad anti-discrimination ordinance they tried to pass. As close as it is to here (+/- 5 hours), I've only been there a few times. Day for Night festivals were great. Food was always good. People are nice there as well. The rap scene was/is always good. It's going to get voted off sooner than later, but I think it's a cool place. We did have to kick Bob Noxious's ass (RIP, from the Fuck Ups and immortalized in MDC's Soup Kitchen Celebrities) one time at a punk show because he kept starting fights with everyone. But everyone else I've ever met from there was good.
There are never not at least a dozen cranes putting up skyskrapers all over. It's not concentrated downtown only as their no-zoning laws allow for large planned developments with highrises at various different locations.

Why do I hate Houston, no one asked. Because when I was 15 years old, before 🚗 , the ❤️ of my life moved there. His father’s job transferred them. And my young little ❤️🩹 was broken. I wasn’t sure I could go on. 😭

Oh, come on, don’t buy the Fox News narrative. It’s not the ‘80s. Even with the pandemic bump that happened, New York City doesn’t even crack the top 50 for violent crime among US cities.
Did some reflecting yesterday and realized I don’t really hate or dislike any of these cities. I even take back my stated hatred for Milwaukee. It’s all right.

I think we should have stopped after eliminating Charlotte.

Also: Atlanta has a really great aquarium with whale sharks, Shaky Knees is a great festival, OutKast is from there, and I had a really amazing fried chicken eggs Benedict on a biscuit the last time I was there (shout out to Breakfast Survivor). It shouldn’t win, but there’s definitely stuff to recommend it.
So change your vote from Baltimore, which admittedly I’ve never been to but I’m sure is lovely, to Houston. Because it ripped the love of my life from my young virginal arms.

Outkast being from there should get them into the top 10 just based on that.

the fox news narrative? dude you know i dont watch that garbage, so any opinion i have is certainly not framed off of their narratives.
there's been a significant spike in violent crime the past two years there. so has there been in my city. im not calling out NYC saying it is the only place where bad shit happens; i was merely stating, i dont think balitmore should get pushed out here for "being so so dangerous" when it isn't as if the list is otherwise filled with only Super Safe Cities. that's all.

Sorry - the Fox News thing was meant in jest. I should’ve added a smilie. I definitely meant no offense, and I absolutely know that’s not where you’re coming from!

For what it’s worth, I never once thought of Las Vegas as humid when we were there, but I guess it’s all relative.
This made me interested, so I looked up how much the casinos and resorts are affecting Lake Mead. There is definitely some detrimental effect, but it’s apparently at least somewhat less than you might think. The water in the fountains at the Bellagio doesn’t come from Lake Mead, it comes from a well on the property. Other casino fountains apparently do the same thing, although I didn’t look far enough into that to say it with confidence. A lot of the indoor water used in the resorts is recycled and put back into Lake Mead. And they try to save as much water as possible in the pools, but yeah, it evaporates, so there is still a lot of loss.
One thing I saw said the much bigger problem is huge plots of grass that just soak up water and don’t do anything other than look pretty. It’s not the big amounts they’re talking about, but it used to really piss me off to see houses with grass lawns in Las Vegas. They are just so wasteful, and why would you have a lawn that you have to mow and maintain when you live in a city where it’s perfectly acceptable to have a yard full of rocks?
I am also voting for Houston. I was voting for Miami, but I think Houston deserves to go before Baltimore, so I moved.
