A point against Minneapolis: a friend just sent me a link to a First Avenue-themed night at Target Field, which features a giveaway of an astonishingly ugly hat: www.mlb.com/twins/tickets/specials/first-avenue
pride parade in Houston is almost as old as NYCs and had to move from it's historic location because it got too big. it's the biggest pride event in Texas, in the Southwest, and is our 2nd most attended event (behind the rodeo which is more gay friendly than you'd imagine)
we also had an openly gay mayor something NYC hasn't had, they haven't even had a woman. since our last Republican mayor NYC has elected Guliani and Bloomberg to the same position, and two of the recent governor's have been Spritzer and Cuomo.
Our current (and presumptive future) governor is a woman. Also a Bills fan, as she should be.
Texas beat you to that too in the 90s with Ann Richard
I was a bartender in 5 points in my last two semesters at USC. I lived on Blossom like a 10 minute walk from where I worked. I don't want to say I was asking for it walking home at 3am every night, but coworkers always offered to give me a ride home like they knew it was bound to happen at some point.
my only ever boots on the ground experience in Nashville was walking into the airport to catch a connecting flight and there was just puke on the floor right outside the gate and no one seemed to care or were doing anything about it
Nashville is a place where Kid Rock is not only tolerated but embraced and celebrated
Ya that’s great but now Ted Cruz is Houston’s most prominent politician
I know he lives in Houston but Houston overwhelmingly voted against him
A better Houston politician to represent us is the county judge Lina Hidalgo, whose a rising star in the Democratic Party right now and has done a great job at being over one of the biggest budgets in the country. I actually wouldn't be surprised if she runs against Cruz in 2024

Ted Cruz got 41% of the vote in Harris County vs 33% in Dallas County and 24 in Travis
People get robbed every single day in every single one of these cities.
You know anyone that’s been robbed at gun point? In their own neighborhood.
My coworker's son got murdered in a McDonald's parking lot here a couple of weeks ago. There were three of them in the car and the lone survivor was still shot six times. I'm not sure if he was officially in his own neighborhood but it was pretty close.
