This may not stand alongside Boston Calling as the area's second large music festival, but it sounds like a lot of fun.
Three days (actually nights, I presume) of shows in Davis Square will be happening at the Somerville Theater, Crystal Ballroom, and Rockwell Theater. They're featuring mostly regional artists. Judging from their Twitter follows, expect the lineup to include Mint Green, Grace Givertz, CT's Cheem, Dino Gala, NYC's Bat House, Winkler, Sweet Petunia, Baby Bowler, Allison & Moon, Rusty Mullet, LAVAGXRL, Chicago's Dump Him, Talk Chalk, Really Great, (T-T)b, shallow pools, 5ever, oldsoul, Lady Pills, Pet Fox, First Passionate Frisbee Club, Really From, Bowling Shoes, Mallcops, Layzi, Mercet, Haasan Barclay, and going222jail.
The biggest follow on Twitter is Sadie Dupuis, which means we can expect Speedy Ortiz and/or sad13 in the lineup, too.
I actually do know of one band, not listed above, which is definitely performing at the festival. A band member mentioned it to me and while I wasn't told to keep it under my hat, I'm not inclined to spread the word until either the band or the festival posts something on social media.
The full lineup drop is happening on Friday, April 1.
Extra Early Bird tickets went on sale today for $25. Those who waited until later in the day to make their purchase found that ticket prices went up to $50 ($59 and change, with service fees). It appears that full price tickets will be $60 judging from the site.
While this would definitely be more fun as an outdoor festival, Davis Square is a great neighborhood for this sort of multiple day hang. There are a ton of good places to eat within a few blocks and while there aren't a lot of stand-alone bars, plenty of restaurants in the square have bars, and coffee and bubble tea shops abound.
BTW, it turns out that this happened last summer as a one-day 12-band event at Boynton Yards. This article on Vanyaland mentions the bands that played, and most of them are included in the follows I mentioned in the previous post, so it remains to be seen whether these artists will be back in 2022.
none of the performances at the last one blew me away but it was a fun return to live music. also good to know that local musicians are the ones getting paid.
wayyy in on Teens and Rebuilder. wouldn't hate seeing Speedy Ortiz and Hallelujah the Hills. just gotta see how the daily splits shake out since i don't want to go 3 days.
also really holding out hope that the second-line TBA spot is Weakened Friends (probably hidden because they're opening for We Were Promised Jetpacks at sinclair in a week or two..?)

Oooh, I hadn't thought of Weakened Friends.
I saw them years ago at Harvard Square Mayfair or Oktoberfest, and again at some sort of festival at Middle East Down. They're so good.
FWIW, I didn't see any one-day tickets available on their site. Maybe they'll be offered once the schedule is released, if they haven't sold out three-day passes.
Something just occurred to me...if they keep the focus upon local bands, how can they possibly do this every year without repeating the same lineup, year after year? They've basically booked 90% of the top local indie rock artists, so if they change up the lineup, they're going to be missing those top names playing this year.
Sure, I can think of some local bands like Beeef and Dino Gala who could play next year, along with a lot of the artists who are doing Boston Calling instead, this year, but that well is going to run dry sooner or later.

Eh i wouldnt put it past them, there will definitely be new artists coming out by the next year though. The entire point of this is just to be an local band showcase
bummed that Future Teens aren't the same day as Rebuilder or HTH, but single day tickets for this just went on sale so i think i'm in for Friday regardless. it's under $30 after fees which is nice. (and still holding out hope that the TBA name friday is Weakened Friends) www.niceafest.com/schedule

HTH is also headlining the Lilypad in Inman Square on Thurs, June 2.

ah cool, thanks. i kinda-sorta know the guy on the far right in that band promo pic (Nicholas). he works at State Park now and worked at Audubon basically forever before that. i've never seen HTH though.
This is a tiny bit off-topic, but ONCE Somerville is offering a season pass for their eight Boynton Yards outdoor shows in Somerville this year, which they describe as all-day festivals, so it's going to be an opportunity to hear a lot of (mostly local, I presume) music at a reasonable cost. There are fewer than 20 passes remaining, so move quickly on this, if you're interested.

my first two post pandemic shows were at Boynton Yards. Awesome venue. I’m not jumping on this because I have wanna see who they book for but someone like TWIABP or Rozwell Kid would be so nice
