There seems to be this misconception that New Orleans begins and ends with Bourbon Street. Bourbon Street blew my mind when I was 20-22, but I’ve mostly avoided it every trip since.
I'm heading down that way this summer so I need the dirt
Summer - it's hot as shit. You can pretty much eat wherever you want because no one is in town in July or August. So the restaurants do a bunch of cool prix fix shit (e.g. Coolinary menus) for 3 courses below $39.00 or something like that. Let me know when shit gets closer and I'll throw you out 30-40 restaurant recommendations. I would have done that for deegle, but he didn't show back up in the March Madness thread. So hopefully he didn't eat at some greasy spoon NTTAWWT.
Y'all talking bullshit about NOLA is pissing me off. Mardi Gras starts on the 12th day of Christmas (after Christmas aka King's day the first day you can eat King Cake) and ends the day before lent. It is way more than just a couple days. There are over 2 weeks straight of just parades AFTER two weeks of just weekend parades. Just because you don't drink (LIKE ME) doesn't mean that NOLA has nothing to offer. It has all night shows, great shopping, some of the best food you could eat and is just a super fun city. I can suggest about 50 million things to do while you are here. AND, Besides San Fran we had the largest LGBTQ+ community since the 70s.
Bourbon Street does not define or make NOLA. Y'all just need to stop.

So bourbon St is basically the Vegas strip is what you're saying

Fuck no. The strip is all Vegas is. New Orleans is more than just Bourbon Street. There's so much to do in so many other areas other than just Bourbon Street.
If you're a tourist coming to New Orleans you don't have to go to Bourbon Street in order to have a good time, Las Vegas all you do is go to to the strip.
Plus New Orleans only has two casinos It's not like all we have is casinos like Vegas does. We have restaurants on other streets other than Bourbon Street. We have other areas other than just the French quarter that all have really great things that you can experience.

I’d be more inclined to consider it the Times Square of New Orleans, but Bourbon St. is not overrun with chain restaurants, so that doesn’t work either.

So once upon a time, there were about 200 of us running down Broadway from the NYPD riot police - about ready to throw tear gas. Tom Morello and Ben Harper were among said 200.
Got down to about Union Square, then was in a march down Broadway towards the Battery. Saw blue shirts about 10 deep at the entrance to Wall Street, a number of which having riot gear. And guarding that stupid fucking bull statue.
I've seen people get arrested by the NYPD for no real good reason. I've seen people I know get manhandled and arrested by the NYPD in protests, on live streams too.

I don’t think anyone in this forum or elsewhere sane would tout the NYPD as one of the city’s selling points.
Then again, I don’t think anyone anywhere outside of Mayberry would tour their city’s police as a selling point.

Denver police department just had to pay millions to George Floyd protesters so...
Oh I'm aware. Some of the places left have a problem with racist and/or violent police.
An Occupy comrade, she was out in Chicago when they had the NATO summit. Some CPD clocked her over the head with a baton. She's like 5'1" and not big or intimidating.
I love how people are fighting over NOLA when DENVER IS STILL HERE.
What did Denver do to you in your past?
Ok I just checked and I see you're a bridge and tunneler. Explains a bunch
Edit 2 : this came off kinda creepy I'm just playing
I live in JC for the first time this year (moved in Jan). I’ve lived in Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens since 2005. I moved in with my GF over here because I got a great deal with an art studio space, which I recently lost in Bushwick. I bartend in lower Manhattan. Is that good enough for you?

Lol nothing's good enough for me. I was curious if you were in Harlem because they tend to defend upper Manhattan to the death (the gentrifiers)
