- King Britt - Wendy Eisenberg - Jake Xerxes Fussell - James Brandon Lewis - Anthony Coleman - Ned Rothenberg Crossing Quartet - Larry & Joe - Gyan Riley
For me, the biggest are Jake Xerxes Fussell and Anthony Coleman. I’ve gushed about Fussell so m many times. Phenomenal player and a true voice in that scene.
Coleman though will end up being high on my list. He’s a pianist known mostly for his work with Zorn and Tzadik label but he’s worked with a ton of other people as well. His newest album is a duo with Brian Chase (shout out to you YYY’s fans) and is an incredible listen.

Listening to the new adds now. James Brandon Lewis has an album out next year with the Messthetics (former Fugazi members) and I'm digging these singles a lot:
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

More added names on the website. Ones that jump out to me as new are Justin Adams & Mario Durante, Algiers, Theon Cross, Etran de L'Aïr, Lucius, Meridian Brothers, My Brightest Diamond, Parker Quartet, Tank & the Bangas and Brandee Younger
Guess there's at least one more round of adds since I don't see Zola Jesus or Tom Skinner on there

Glad I have another opportunity to see My Brightest Diamond. I missed her set when she played in 2017.

Don't think there's much risk of a sellout and my brother applied for one of those Artist Scholarship things so I think we're waiting to formally buy until we hear back about that
90% chance we're both in though, lots to like already and they keep adding more

GOOD LUCK TO HIM! You met alawre at brunch? Pretty sure she won a scholarship this year.
All these new people and returning folk has gotten me excited!
This lineup is becoming more and more appealing to me, but not sure I can justify ~$600 round trip flight for it
Consider flying in to Nashville, rent a car, and drive to Knoxville. Might be a better deal than flying LA->TYS, and you'll have a rental car to get around Knox if needed. Its about a 3 hour drive between Nashville and Knoxville. For me, DEN->BNA plus rental car ended up being a little less than a non-Frontier flight from DEN->TYS.

I typically hit 20 - 25 shows over the entire weekend... and after refining my list, it looks like I've hit that limit... I probably shouldn't post this, for fear of angering the Saint of Schedule-Conflicts. But here I go:
Antonio Sánchez & Bad Hombre Brandee Younger Caroline Caterina Barbieri Danielle Ponder Ichiko Aoba John Zorn's 70th Birthday: Cobra (Frisell + Halvorson + Greene + Marsella + Medeski + Lombardo et. al) John Zorn's 70th Birthday: Nove Cantici (Bill Frisell + Julian Lage + Gyan Riley) John Zorn's 70th Birthday: Painkiller (John Zorn + Bill Laswell + Dave Lombardo) Josephine Foster Marc Ribot Y Los Cubanos Postizos Mivos Quartet performing Steve Reich's Complete String Quartets Morton Subotnick My Brightest Diamond Pino Palladino & Blake Mills Ft.Sam Gendel + Abe Rounds Reid Anderson Rich Ruth Robert Ashley's "Perfect Lives" (Varispeed Collective) Son Lux Sun Ra Arkestra The Blue Hour Theon Cross Wendy Eisenberg William Parker
By day line-up are up on the website. Oneohtrix Point Never And Billy Woods added.
Both pretty great adds for my taste. Listened to Aethiopes a lot over the past few months
Agreed. I flip flop between Aethiopes and the last Fly Anakin being my favorite hip hop record this year.
Waiting on a poster to make sure that’s it for additions but he definitely jumped out at me. I’m guessing those Skinner and Zola posts were Red Herrings.

Initial venues and times for most artists are in the page sources. We're clearly getting at least a couple more big artists (only one act scheduled for Tennessee Theater on Sunday, although Frisell will probably wind up there) and all four acts Sunday at Knoxville Civic are scheduled concurrently which will obviously change, as well as a couple of other overlaps. I'm still organizing this spreadsheet but take a look, it covers everyone on the dailies. Zorn at the Bijou Saturday-Sunday again. Well-themed days at the Knoxville Civic, doesn't seem like any more space on those slates. Excited for Grouper in a church.
