A lot of people like having a yard, jorgeandthekraken. And...privacy.
Oh, I get it. Like I said - it wasn’t a dig. I was genuinely curious.
I get the privacy argument, but also, for me, there’s something positive about the fact that NYC forces us to interact in close quarters with other people all the time, rather than being in our own isolated little bubbles. I realize people’s mileage may vary on that, and I can’t say I’ve never, ever had a moment when it’s been too much for me. But overall, I think it’s better for coexistence than, like, suburban sprawl.
I am well aware that this is just, like, my opinion, man.

I’m a city person through & through! I grew up in SoCal suburbs so I have had both experiences. I love that it feels like a real community - and I think that’s why a lot of people don’t like it. Other people directly effect you 24/7 here. It can be hard if you don’t love the other reasons for being here!

Ah yah that happens when you’re not catcalled every summer for over a decade. First five years of it was hard, but now I fuck with them & it is a fun pass time.

Saying LA lacks culture is RICH. It's a diverse city of roughly 1 bajillion people from all over the damn place who've brought their own culture/food/art/etc... along with them. Not to mention the indigenous communities.
I live in LA's little sister city, San Diego, and much of what makes SD great also applies to LA. You can drive an hour or two and be in a completely different setting (city, beach, mountains, desert, Mexico). The climate is great year round. Also, in-n-out.
I really miss regularly driving up there for dinners and concerts, pre-parenthood <3

In-N-Out is life.
Have you had a burger from anywhere else? I mean, they're better than McDonald's, Burger King & Wendy's but I'd put them on par with Five Guys or Sonic. I will say that they are streets ahead of White Castle.

And I'm an expert because I've been to In-N-Out. Once.
I have eaten a lot of burgers. It’s the best fast food burger IMHO. Tastes like my childhood, and my nostalgia only increased when moving to the part of the country that doesn’t have it!

Like I said, they were good but they don't live up to their reputation, IMO. They're built up a lot, like Chik-Fil-A or, to a lesser extent, Popeyes.
I get the childhood attachment. Here we've got a local taco chain, Mighty Taco, that I'll go ten rounds defending on the internet because I have such fond memories from my youth and because I spent much of my life living far away from it. Now that I'm back, though, I can say that it's fine. I eat it occasionally because their burritos are served ready to eat (with the sauce already on) so it's easy to eat while driving and they've got great meatless options. But they were much better in my memory or when I'd come back to Buffalo for a visit.
Cookout has the best fast food cheeseburger IMHO. It tastes exactly like one you'd get at your summer family, well, cookout. The char taste is so hard to beat.
