Sonic is a cool character and Knuckles is an even cooler character but gameplay in Sonic games has always been pretty mid. We need to talk about those soon.
Call of Duty. Anything that makes actual wars into "games" is fucked up imo.
wait are you saying military video games shouldn't exist? That's a take
Ones that are based on actual wars. The early Call of Duty games are set in WW2. But even the modern warfare ones that depict fictional conflicts have never sat well with me. The idea that war can be a fun game is just gross, sorry. Try living in a country where a war was fought on the homefront within a lifetime and you'll find that most people would agree with me.
Obligatory Metroid and Metal Gear should both be on this.
I almost included Metroid but thought Nintendo was already pretty over represented. Metal Gear was kind of an oversight but I'm not really sure which series it slides in over
Does FIFA have a lot of microtransactions now or what's their great sin?
big time
Fun fact, EA reportedly isn't renewing that license, and the next game won't be called FIFA or feature the World Cup. It'll still have all of the players and clubs though

I could not agree more with this take. I remember back when the first FPS WWII game came out - I can’t remember what it was called because I’m old and have been hit in the head a lot - that featured a Normandy beach landing sequence. At first, I was all, “Wow, this is intense,” then the sound effects of men screaming as they were gunned down got to me and I couldn’t help thinking of how many people really died that way, so I quit and never played the game again.
