This may have already been discussed in an earlier thread but for Mario we are counting all the various games the heavily feature Mario characters right? So we are including Mario kart, Mario party, Dr Mario, Yoshi's Island and any of the Luigi games as well?

Interesting if you score the Mario franchise as just "Mario" it's the highest selling game franchise of all time. If you score it as "Super Mario" it's only the 4th. (Tetris and Call of Duty are 2nd and 3rd).

The best thing about Mario is that Mario is everywhere. All hail the Mario.
Nintendo is to adult video gaming what Donald Trump is to presidential rankings.
Your worst take.
No chance. It’s sucked since the inception. Always catered to little kids games as compared to its contemporaries. Like it all you want, and that’s fine. The argument was made in earlier votes, but everything semi-modern from Sega to MicroSoft to Sony is or was > than whatever the contemporary Nintendo system was. And the cheesy games from inception were not up to snuff for me.

Nintendo is the Disney of video games. It markets to the family audience, and a big part of that is the child. And the same as Disney, many of us who grew up playing Nintendo as children enjoy the nostalgia of revisiting the series. And just because there isnt blood and boobs doesn't mean the games aren't fun.

I realize that. I didn’t like any of their arcade games when that’s what they did. My nephew had a Nintendo back in like 91 or so, and I wasn’t a fan of any of those. Where I will give them credit was the earlier handhelds and the technology they used to link them within a neighborhood before most people had Wi-Fi at home.

Nintendo did crush it in handheld for decades. Was going to be my mounting argument for why Zelda should win it all, because of its library spanning 3 decades of near flawless games on both console and handheld.
I did have a Sega Game Gear when I was like 7 or 8 years old too. Played Sonic on that along with Road Rash.
The Switch was a game changer in the fact that you can hook up to the tv or have a handheld device. Nintendo changed how people viewed/played multiple times. You have to give credit where credit is due, regardless if Sony is the better/more adult game system.

They are still crushing it, the Switch has shipped like 100 million units

I adore my Switch, but because I play it docked 90% of the time I always forget that it's technically a handheld system (and that that is like its main appeal).

I did in going either farther back to the snes or whatever it was called.

I play mostly docked also, and my newest favorite thing is to use my laptop table with my portable gaming monitor and play it on the couch like that. LOL
Could I just use the heldheld? Yes. But then I couldn't use the controller and have a 15" screen in my lap.
Also since Elder Scrolls is on its way out, did you guys usually go combat, magic, or stealth?
I always ran stealth. Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild all the way.
I did a hybrid for Skyrim. Stealth and Magic are usually a good mix… but I could never choose just one over time so I was always a mixture of the three. Mainly stealth and magic.
I mean Mario Kart, Luigi’s Mansion, and Paper Mario before even getting into the main Mario games. The movies, comics, animations, etc.
Luigi’s Mansion is one of the best releases you will find on any console… and the original is a classic.
thejeremy will just watch when I play Luigi's Mansion on the switch. He said it is the most fun to just sit back and watch. I am sure that my crazy game play style helps. They make fun of my dumbass never remembering the right buttons and my insane camera/running style. LOL
