I mean, if we're getting all 90's up in here you need to include Dave Matthews Band, Barenaked Ladies, Goo Goo Dolls, Gin Blossoms.
You forgot one of the most important bands. The band that taught us if you know 3 chords, YOU can be a rock star. That's right, The Presidents of the United States. Where the fuck are they on here.
Oh and way to go only naming boy bands. Just because one has ladies in the name does not make ladies in the band.
I was trying to think of some other female fronted bands from then - came up with The Breeders, Bikini Kill and the one band I really need to go back and listen to which was Skunk Anansie I think is how it’s spelled. Also I forgot about original Brand New Heavies. They were kind of bad ass in doing their own thing but I remember them being a mixed group (gender and I think race? <—Edit yeah they were.
which one of us has an early Cake t-shirt? That’s proves we were there and heard of them first?
Still have my no doubt and white zombie shirt - you looking to scrap, son?
I’m trying to remember if I saw No Doudt? I think they played Big Day Out but for some reason I have very little memories of that weekend. Like I totally forgot I saw Foo Fighters for years.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
Fight for your right/Paul Revere was November of 86 and that blew them up. Beastie Boys are from the '80s.
And then they were left for dead until their rebirth in the 90's where they completely eclipsed their previous popularity.
Nobody's saying that they didn't have their first success in the 80's. Just that their lasting success came from their work in the 90's.
Sang already ruled out Radiohead because they had continued success past the 90's so you can't argue that both ways.
Nirvana, Soundgarden, RHCP all had stuff out in the 80's. The Chili Peppers were very well known in the 80's.
Didn't you argue Metallica was out due to being in the 80s? And Beasties had continued success past the 90s as well.
Nirvana's Bleach album came out in 89, which was underground grunge and they didn't become well know and "popular" until after Nevermind was released in 1991.
